I will agree that you make good points. In fact, I just voted up your latest post on The PResident is Missing thread. I have also seen some good posts made by georgeob, although he uses straw man fallacies frequently and is frequently abusive to even the most innocent of commentators. I have also seen some interesting information presented by finn, despite his recently foray into pure imagination and misinformation. I have voted up posts from those two as well.
I am frequently accused of posting "straw man fallicies" by you, but the fact is I haven't done so. I believe you are too taken up in your categorical and sweeping slanders of "righties" to make the real distinctions required in adult dialogue, and are perhaps a bit confused about what the term really means.
You are frequently given to unproven, indeed unprovable sweeping denunciations of conservatives of all types and variants, almost always including the impugning of both their motives and personal morality or integrity. Apart from a few pointed reference to the hypocrisy involved, and your habit of projecting your own bad behaviors on others, I haven't wasted much space here criticizing these repeated flaws of yours or even defending myself or others included in your sweeping criticisms.
However I suppose I should be grateful for your acknowledgement that on occasion I "have made some good points" - amidst all the straw men and other bad stuff.
I believe that individuals vary a good deal one to the other, even including the individuals in identifiable groups like Republicans, Democrats, blacks, whites, hispanics, LGTBs and the other categories our contemporary cult of political correctitude forces on us. I also believe that those given to frequent sweeping characterizations of the members of such groups are themselves demonstrating their own intolerance, limited understanding of human life, and very likely ignorance of their own limitations.
It is quite alright that we disagree about political and economic events and desirable remedies. No one (that I know) is right about these things all the time, and all of us have unique experiences that shape our different points of view. We thus bring different biases to the interpretation of events of which even the key objective elements are only partly known or understood by any of us. That is hardly a sufficient basis for all the slander that is so freely hurled back and forth on these threads.
