@mysteryman,
I will agree that you make good points. In fact, I just voted up your latest post on The PResident is Missing thread. I have also seen some good posts made by georgeob, although he uses straw man fallacies frequently and is frequently abusive to even the most innocent of commentators. I have also seen some interesting information presented by finn, despite his recently foray into pure imagination and misinformation. I have voted up posts from those two as well.
H2O and Renaldo do the most damage to the conservative cause with their regular rounds of ad hominem posts. I have assumed that the people lurking behind those pseudonyms are not teenagers. I will not open a thread if the last poster was either of those two. I wait until someone else whose posts have content enters the fray.
ican is so busy cutting and pasting . . . the same things over and over and over . . . that he often does not read that he, too, demeans himself and his cause. About a year ago, he posted and reposted a piece that I was somewhat familiar with. He got the information from Ann Coulter . . . I no longer remember whether it was from one of her books* or her column . . . but the piece was marred by bad attribution and sloppy "scholarship" about a person who is easily found through a quick internet search.
Those three need to consider their strategies. Of course, there probably isn't a contributor to these boards who is free from the charge of posting insults. In fact, H2O's rephrasing of insults leveled at him does more to damage the right wing presentation than any other poster. His posts are simply inane.
*I wanted to put her in quotation marks because I suspect that she has little or nothing to do with the research and/or writing of works carrying her by-line. I suspect a new staff member was responsible for the inaccuracies in that case because what good would blatantly incorrect titles (labeling a person as a professor at one college when he is long established at another and heads a think tank as his own school?) do in terms of advancing the conservative position?
