@Renaldo Dubois,
Are you listening to the speech live? Is anyone?

Obama: "After consulting members of Congress, we established a response..."
Hmm.

Hey, they probably called one or two of 'em!

In fact, I would not be at all surprised if a certain amount of knowledge of what went on was shared with the members of Congress with the highest security clearances. It would be consistent with what we (in retrospect) know went on under Bush.

@djjd62,
Obama made an argument for the US intervening to prevent civilian casualties in Libya. Fine enough, but he never mentioned the Ivory Coast.

@plainoldme,
This is responding to a way earlier post, pom. I'd be interested in the whys and wherefores re the Los Angelesation of America, however that is spelled, whenever that was a sociological phrase. I can make some guesses on all that, but would be interested if you have references or indicators. I've lived there for something like 47 years and was a coordinator of a land use/LA exhibition, and yet I've not heard the term. Which of our faults was being highlighted in that particular spotlight?

@revelette,
While there are many people on the left who are profoundly religious or else deeply spiritual, I have never heard of the religious left.

In fact, I do not understand how anyone can be genuinely religious and lean to the right.

If I say Obama is inept, that is an opinion. If I say Obama is a pig ******, that is a slur.

@plainoldme,
What's even sadder is you expect me to argue with a statement that you yourself know is wrong. The unions in Wisconsin proved to us the power they have. It is un-American.

I did listen to most of it. Just returned from work in time for the final 2/3s. Did not agree with everything but thought it a well written speech.

Re: The Los Angelization of the nation. I heard it in a college sociology class and read it in one of the Detroit papers while I was in college. It referred to the crossing of core cities with freeways and the accompanying residential sprawl.
