@okie,
Did I say anything about defending Johnson? Did I just say he lied to start his war in Vietnam?

You are dumb and crazy!

@cicerone imposter,
Perhaps I misunderstood your post, imposter. I said LBJ trumped up the Gulf of Tonkin incident, but you seemed to disagree?

Yeah, as I said, Okie,

"It just doesn't seem to matter who y'all elect, they get sucked into a morass of inhumanity and they all end up committing war crimes".

@okie,
What you fail to understand is how and why Johnson lied to congress to get his approval for that war. Many are now comparing what GW Bush did to start his war in Iraq.

Get the connection?

@cicerone imposter,
Its called money. The reasons for wars. And as long as were fighting two or three wars at a time we will never balance the budget or pay off the national debt.

Don't be so damn dishonest, Rabel. These are definitely not wars.

USA's initial war participation led by:

WWI = Democrats;
WWII = Democrats;
Vietnam = Democrats;
Kuwait = Republicans;
Afghanistan = Republicans
Iraq = Republicans.

@ican711nm,
Of coarse, WWII was not a 'necessary' war like Iraq and Afghanistan. If we had a republican president, we would not have gotten involved in WWI and WWII. That would be foolish thinking.

@cicerone imposter,
ci, there have been naysayers to every war. There were folks protesting our involvement in foreign lands during those wars too.

@plainoldme,
I think he was, by virtue of his "Great Society" welfare programs. Incidentally, I have heard some conservative black commentators say that the Great Society initiative did more to destroy the black family structure and inner city black communities than any other single factor. They rightfully point out that unwed mothers found out they no longer needed a husband to help support more and more children. It served as proof that what you reward, you will get more and more of. If you reward irresponsibility, it will increase.

@plainoldme,
Johnson's Civil Rights Act of 1964 makes him a liberal in my books.

@cicerone imposter,
Most of the scholarly writing on LBJ points out that he was a politician and an opportunist.

To concentrate on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 without considering its context leads to some faulty conclusion. Yes, it was a liberal act but it was passed to celebrate the death of JFK.

For those interested in media actually coming out of the White House and not over the 24 hour news cycle, I think the WH Whiteboard is pretty cool.

@Finn dAbuzz,
In all reality, very few. To be a liberal, one must be more anti-war than not. Yes, even I recognize some exceptions, most of those being when defense is necessary. To be a liberal, one must practice self-denial for the greater good. To be a liberal, one must be a committed environmentalist and committed to Zero Population Growth. To be a liberal, one must oppose all racial and ethnic prejudice.

Almost all liberals are "on the ground," that is, are people one meets in everyday life and few liberals are in power.

So that means that she would have to have at most 2 kids.
If she has more then that she isnt committed to "zero population growth" and isnt a true liberal.
