@H2O MAN,
I think David Letterman and his writers might miss bush: bush made life easy for them by providing ready-made material for a segment called Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.

@okie,
There is little to no 'morality' on the right . . . although I prefer the term ethics . . . ethics has a more adult, intellectual and conscience-driven bend to me while morality is something people yell about without understanding. The loudest yellers perform the most immoral of acts most often.

@Cycloptichorn,
okie is willing to twist things to present them as being on either the right or the left . . . and to be the only one in the room with that point of view. okie believes that because he says something, it is 100% factual and totally congruent with reality.

@okie,
When you paint people as not working, you are speaking with hatred. I would guess that most lefties work harder than most righties. I suspect that I work harder than you.

Greed is what got us into this mess now: the greed of Wall Street and huge corporations. Fear is the tool that the fascists of the Tea Party . . . a very right wing organization that is the successor to the KKK . . . uses. The left's driving purpose has been to end racism and ethnic hatred.

BTW, the lottery has no political orientation.

That is the last thing the left wants to happen. You make your living and your political success depend upon racism and hatred. That is what the left does, they divide people into groups and pit them against each other, black against white, hispanic against non, rich against poor, the haves against the have nots, its all about class envy and racial strife. Conservatives believe in the rights and responsibilities of individuals, without regard to race and all the rest of the crap thrown at us. I would love it if the Census would simply count people, and forget the classifications.

@okie,
So, according to the okie theory of alternate reality, what were the Freedom Riders? Were they conservatives working to end more than a century of racism and segregation in the South or were they liberals, going down there to create trouble where there never was any because all the Black people loved drinking out of the dirty fountain and attending inferior schools and riding at the back of the bus.

I am torn between asking okie whether he is a Klansman or asking how pretty was that liberal girl who refused to date him so many years ago and turned him into a bitter, twisted awful menace to society.

I suspect that anyone who does not agree with your liberal ideology is according to you "bitter, twisted and awful"...Condesention seems to run strong in your ilk. You claim to be open minded, but really you are not.

[edit] B
"Brain problems" A term making out that the person does not have fully functioning brain and is incapable of acting rationally. Offensive because of being general and being used to describe illness that is beyond the individuals control.
[edit] C
Cripple used to mean "a person with a physical or mobility impairment." Its shortened form, "crip" is often used by firebrand people with disabilities as a term of endearment. See also the essay On Being a Cripple by Nancy Mairs.
[edit] D
[edit] E
[edit] F
[edit] G
Gimp used to refer to people with physical disabilities and, like crip, is being reclaimed for positive use among people with disabilities.
[edit] H
Handicapped used to mean "person with a disability", and handicap for "disability". It is unclear how often the term "handicapped" is still used by either the disabled or the able-bodied. Since there is no other connotation other than negative, it is always offensive.
[edit] I
[edit] J
Joey, used as a derogatory term for someone with Cerebral Palsy (see Joey Deacon), is still an offensive term unused by any responsible party.
[edit] K
[edit] L
Lame refers to difficulty walking or moving. It is also a universally offensive term.
[edit] M
Midget used to mean "dwarf." In its place, little person or short stature is now used.
"Mongol," "Mongoloid," "Panface," "Mong," or "Mongolism" for Down syndrome originated from the perception that facial features of people with Down syndrome were similar to those of people from Mongolia. The term is now not used.
[edit] N
[edit] O
[edit] P
Pinhead is a vulgar term denoting a person afflicted with the congenital deformity microcephaly. Microcephalics have been exhibited in freak shows billed as "human pinheads"; Zip the Pinhead was famously exhibited by P. T. Barnum for many years. Microcephalics are characterized by a small, tapering cranium and often, though not always, impaired mental faculty, which is the basis for the disparaging, ad hominem abusive, attribution of the term pinhead to others with whom the speaker disagrees or believes to be illogical.
[edit] Q
[edit] R
"Retard" literally means slow. It is used to describe someone with a learning disability, mental retardation, a significantly low IQ, or some other learning or developmental disability); this term "retard" is used as a vulgar term and is not used, unless it is deliberately used as a term of offense. Since there is no other connotation other than negative, it is always offensive.
"Retarded" is prefaced by indicators such as Mild, Moderate, Severe or Profound. Retarded as a description of one's cognitive and adaptive functioning is a clinical diagnosis that can be made only by a psychologist. In that respect, the term is neutral and can be used to convey a great deal of information very quickly such as: IQ score range, Adaptive skills, level of care needs, etc. The levels Mental Retardation are associated with increasing degrees of brain damage. In the past words such as Moron, Feeble-Minded, etc. were also used as clinical diagnostic terms. Those terms fell out of fashion, and modernly the term Retardation is being increasingly replaced with the term Developmentally Disabled or Learning Disabled.
[edit] S
"Schizo" or "Schizoid" for schizophrenia is still in wide use among the general population, as is "psycho" for psychosis.
"Slow" or Slow learner for someone with a learning disability has generally fallen out of favor but is still in use occasionally in certain contexts.
Spazz (or "Spaz," "Spazzy," "Spack," or "Spackhead") for someone with Cerebral Palsy used to be an alternative to spastic which was in turn an acceptable self-descriptive term used by people with CP themselves; however, the term is now unacceptable in British English as it has come to be applied to the overall athletic population when a sports-player seems overly anxious or tightly-moving in sports. As the CP-affected population felt this was inappropriate, it stopped using the term in self-description (see the entry Scope (British charity). However, the term is largely nonoffensive in American English, denoting general clumsiness, often associated with hyperactivity or excessive energy.
Special Ed- could be interpreted as patronizing but is still fairly commonly used in the educational system.
[edit] T
"The Disabled," "The Blind" etc. instead of "people with disabilities", "people who are blind" etc can actually be seen by many disabled activists as positive, in a manner similar to the fact that most people don't usually use "people with Blackness" to refer to Black people. In a manner similar to Deaf culture, "The Blind" may see themselves separate from "The Sighted"; "The Disabled" and "The Disabled Community" are used similarly.
[edit] U
[edit] V
[edit] W
"Wheelchair-bound" for someone who uses a wheelchair is unacceptable because of the word "bound" being used in it, which is akin to slavery's chains. "Wheelchair user" or "person who uses a wheelchair" is preferred, referring to the wheelchair as a tool rather than an entrapment.
[edit] X
[edit] Y
"Yuppie flu" used as a pejorative term for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or CFS. This originated from the media stereotype of people with ME as ambitious, young, and affluent, and having an illness

@Gargamel,
It did not work very well. The idea was that there are a lot of words which are now considered offensive, and many who will jump down your throat if you use them. I thought the policing of language was out of control 20 years ago, and it has only gotten worse since then.

That is an interesting argument for you to make ican.

So, your reputation is hurt if liberals disagree with you? So, everyone expects you to agree with liberals? That is the only way you would have a libel case ican.
