You're not a fan of fascists? What kind of nuttiness is this? Obama is a fascist, no wait, he's a Nazi.

i do however play a fascist on the internets (and the Google) Wink

as for being a fan of Obama, if i were an American (that dys is so clever, the things he knows) i would have voted for him (the lesser, as they say, of the two evils) , but would still be waiting for that elusive third party (or more parties, hell, let's Spain this ************, get about 50 parties, half of them being real fascists and commies, not this weak American brand)

That's fine for you to say now, but just wait till they come to demand the gold from your pockets and from your mouth. It's only a matter of time, my man. You won't be laughing once you're standing before the Barak Hussein Obama Muslim firing squad. And you know what? you crass non-sensical Socialist, you'll have it coming to you too. Because you didn't listen to okie and his infinite and measured wisdom.

That is my great fear -- that socialism will run rampant through this country and turn us all into mindless drones. What actions can be taken to prevent such a catastrophe?

Probably the best way to prevent this is for the private sector to act with some ethics, obey the law, stop acting like rapacious highwaymen, eschew bias and racism, treat its employees with respect and dignity, etc.

Probably the best way to prevent socialism running rampant through this country and turning us all into mindless drones, is for the public sector--especially the federal government--to act with some ethics, obey the law--especially the US Constitution--stop acting like rapacious highwaymen, eschew bias and racism, treat the Americans they represent, and that employ them, with respect and dignity, etc.

Oh yes! One more thing! Stop blaiming the private sector for the problems created by the public sector.

The prodigal son and voice of reason has returned. At last. Where the #@$! have you been you swamp rat? Your humor has been sorely missed. Even though my beloved country of America is in its democracy death throes because of Obama's Groucho Marxist leanings, I will sleep soundly tonight knowing you've made contact. Although, okie has taken a place in my heart for his high humor and thoughtful posts. You've got some competition with that okie.

According to evidence given today at the Chilcot enquiry the US Gov't was "dysfunctional" prior to the invasion of Iraq and American generals were ringing up London to try to find out what was going on.

Anybody who wants to know something serious about this business should watch the proceedings. They are on Sky News Red Button. And they are fascinating. All the movers and shakers from our side are appearing before this Public Enquiry. There is a one minute delay from Live which I assume is a precaution in case any of the witnesses blurts out something not in the script. Mr Blair is due in the hot seat in January. He's top of the bill.

I'm glued to it. There are some classic stiff upper lip drolleries.

Well said, but when has government ever respected the citizens? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why the founders constructed the constitution to mostly protect the citizens from the government. Abusive government was one of their greatest fears, and if they were alive today, many of their fears would be confirmed, and they would most assuredly be telling us to vote the current slobs out of office and start over with a fresh crew with more common sense.

@okie,
What our founding fathers would realize is that they have created the longest running democracy of the free world, and would be amazed at how they were able to create a Constitution that has survived over 200-years with all the political changes around the world.
