@spendius,
yes spendi of course you are correct, my sarcastic simplicities are totally unwarranted. I am now humbled by your rebuke and will endeavor to avoid such outbursts in the future. I have seen the light you shine to show me the way. Your frank criticism is greatly appreciated and **** you very much.

Actually, I need to correct my follow-up post. Geithner wasn't with Goldman-Sachs, he was the Pres of the NY Fed. It was Henry Paulson who was with Goldman Sachs. My concerns remain the same.

It has troubled me as well, and how can anyone appoint a tax evader as head of the treasury and the IRS? It is nothing less than bizarre. This shows an arrogance and egotism on both of their parts that is mind boggling. It is no wonder that they don't know what they are doing. I have even wondered if Obama is intentionally promoting policies to tank the economy, on purpose. How else can one explain the idiocy of some of it? For example, how do you spend yourself into prosperity? Answer is you don't.

How can you be against Geithner and Summers? They have the exact same philosophy that you do: that Big Business is the engine of American prosperity, that Big Finance is the only route to future earnings for America, and that the current system must be protected at all costs from Socialist Influences. You ought to be absolutely buddy-buddy with them, because they are pursuing the same course you would be if you were in their position.

I'll tell you the reason. It's because Okie is a traitor to his country. His only interest is in Obama's failure, no matter what it costs the country, and no matter what his own principles are. He puts his hatred for anything that isn't Republican before the needs of the country. If Obama came up with a plan that would end hunger around the world in one day, Okie would probably call it socialism and piss all over it, just like all the other Robots of the Right. He, like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and every other idiotic crybaby who thinks like them, is a treasonous dirtbag and should be deported immediately.

I'm rather sure, now new attacks will start since Obama wins the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

And of course: congratulations to the American people as well!

@Walter Hinteler,
I must admit that this seems to be a surprise for many, but "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" are obviously liked everywhere .... besides by some US-Americans.

Nah, the anti-Obamians already think that anyone who wins the Nobel Peace Prize ought to be shot for being a hippie anyway.

@Walter Hinteler,
1) could somebody explain some of those "extraordinary" efforts were/are.

2) The nomintion had to be submitted by February 1st, 2009. What had Obama done 11 days into his presidency to warrent such an award.

This completely surprises me.

@maporsche,
There's a lot of info on the (Norwegian) Nobel Prize Committee's website.
Perhaps you find there what you want to know.

But here's the announcement:

Quote:
Announcement

The Norwegian Nobel Committee

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2009

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.

For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

you're quite mistaken Walter. It is not liked everywhere. It's being made fun of in a number of countries outside of the U.S.

I think it surprised the white house as well.

Quote:
Two key White House aides were both convinced they were being punked when they heard the news, reported ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.

"It's not April 1, is it?" one said.
