@spendius,
Well, since this thread is about Obama I'd thought it worth mentioning what today's prayers in an English cathedral have been. (And we visited the church after the Sung Eucharist.)

@old europe,
okie's posts are no more than personal opinions without any basis in fact. It just amuses me to see him post garbage about 99% of the time - even when he's challenged on them. I continue to wonder which schools he graduated from.

@okie,
Hitler was a National Socialist. American comparisons today would be Bushie, Cheney, Wolfie, Rummy, McCain. PNAC style world domination, imperialism, the Bushie Doctrine, pre-emptive war against weak nations that was outlawed by the Geneva Convention to prevent another Hitler. Obama would have been killed by the National Socialists. At Palin rallies they shout "kill him" just as they would have at Hitler rallies.

You shouldn't take it so seriously bf. They just want to sound tough. It's an outlet.

DAY AFTER TOMORROW! THE ELECTION'S HAPPENING THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW!!!

Sorry, just hit me. Really hit me that I'm about to go to bed and when I wake up, the election will then be tomorrow. Good grief.

@sozobe,
Feels like a combinaton of Christmas eve and Graduation Day.

A sense of awe and wonder combined with a feeling of accomplishment and a bit of nervousness about what's around the corner.

@spendius,
"You shouldn't take it so seriously bf. They just want to sound tough. It's an outlet." This is no time for that kind of appeasement. I dont hear McCain or Palin telling their rabid followers "you'll have to go through me first" which is the proper response.

Hitler perhaps would have killed alot of his political enemies here. I don't know how you pretend to know what would have transpired, but as I see it, the Democrats are closer to being Socialists than the Republicans.

Here is Obama's statement recently:
"We have a righteous wind at our back and in these last two days, if you will knock on some doors, make some phone calls for me . . . if you will stand with me," Obama said. "I promise you that you and I will win this election and change the world."

I guess that does not sound ominous to his followers? It does to me. I think the man is being caught up into his own self importance, and such grand proclamations do not sound like words from a balanced man.

@okie,
"...you and I can change the world."

You find that more ominous than

"It would be a lot easier if this was a dictatorship... as long as I'm the Dictator."

One gives government and responsibility to the people, and the other takes it away. Which do you find more ominous?

@squinney,
Does any Obama supporter here find this even just slightly disturbing? Or are you going to defend everything the man says?

Sounds OK to me. Maybe you think everything is just fine the way it is. You fear change, methinks.

Americans overwhelmingly want to change the world after 8 years of Bushie. http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/mccaincake.jpg

@blueflame1,
blueflame, you will hopefully learn someday that promising everything to everybody does not a good president make. And Obama is acting like he is some kind of dictator already, given the promises he is making.

In Bush, you got a man that did what he said, and he stuck to his guns, a decent man. Even if you disagree with him, you can trust him. Same with McCain, I don't always agree with him, but a decent man, a man that can be trusted in the oval office.

Not so with Obama in my opinion. Good luck. Only problem is we are all on the same ship, and so we all suffer whether we like the direction or not.

We are talking like Obama has it won, and the votes are not even all cast or counted.

I've never seen anyone so excited at the prospect of waking up with an election.

Hey America! There are lots of ways to be involved in civics! Make some phone calls! Talk to people! Vote for me!
