It's also important to note that chicken ****, arrogant little prick Obama refuses to do any one-on-one town hall debates with McCain.

This reflects Obama's total lack of character and his unwillingness to let the American public see him for what he really is.

Once the American public has a glimpse at the real Obama - McCain will run away with the election.

I hope you're right.

So far the progressive Dem's are loving him, and you know what that means.

It's important to note, that McCain has not led a single national poll for over two months now, and has only tied in a few tracking polls for a single day at a time. Not impressive.

It is not important to note anything until the final poll whcih will be known of 11-5.

It is to those who are interested in projecting what the results of that poll might be, Woiyo. If you aren't interested, fine. It's easy to understand why, the current picture is depressing for you guys Laughing

That polling is nice, but the important one is the electoral votes which shows Obama wayyyyyy ahead.

Yup. The important part of THAT map is how many 'solid' electoral votes each candidate has; Obama has more then 3 times as many solid votes as McCain does.

What "guys" are you referring?

Why is not Obama more ahead if, as you portray, he is campaigning against some tired old man?

What interests me is how you will react if you are wrong and Obama losses. My guess is you will say McCain stole the election.

The 'why isn't he more ahead?' line is bullcrap. He IS more ahead. He is way ahead in electoral votes at this point. It's sort of like saying, 'if the Bulls, with Michael Jordan, were so much better then other teams, why didn't they win every game? Why didn't they consistently win by 50 points?' It's a BS position. The better team doesn't always win everywhere they go, and there are large regional differences which make it difficult to be successful everywhere.

He's also facing a large amount of prejudice (as a black fella) and not a small amount of constant smears coming from YOUR side, and yes, I say yours; it matters to me not if you want to call yourself something other then a Republican, you walk and talk like one. So he has a certain amount of people who are prejudiced against him, which must be overcome. There are also some holdouts in Hillary's corner as well, most of them will come home to him in the Fall... any way you slice it, things look good for Obama at this point!

Public financing doesn't kick in until after the nomination at the convention. Okie, your lack of accuracy makes you look foolish with comments like this.

Why don't you point out the 'dis' to me, Okie? Please. Was it when he talked about how much he loved America?

Cycloptichorn

Obama pointed out a mistakes we've made as a country and that (gasp!) we aren't perfect.

To the right, this is akin to a "dis."

It depends on who says what is 'solid' and for what reason.

Aren't you simply just citing someone else's opinion?

Whose 'electoral map' are you referring to (sorry if I've missed it, I've been away from this thread quite a bit lately) and on what basis are they saying 'this is solid, and this over here isn't' ?

He is a "half breed". YOU GUYS and the media, are playing the race card to draw attention to the so called "injustice". I suppose a simple minded person would buy into this race garbage, just like when YOU GUYS start using McCains "age" as an issue.

YOU GUYS do not realize how foolish you sound.

The major problem has already arisen; seven million more American are without health care, and more are losing their coverage as they get laid off from their jobs and the cost of private coverage fees escalate at double-digit rates at a time when most Americans are struggling to buy fuel and food.

We must start some place, and I'll take Obama's plan over McCain 24/7.

I have a question about Obama's healthcare plan, and I would love to see him asked it.

This is from his website...

Quote:
"I...believe that every American has the right to affordable health care. I believe that the millions of Americans who can't take their children to a doctor when they get sick have that right...We now face an opportunity - and an obligation - to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates. It's time to bring together businesses, the medical community, and members of both parties around a comprehensive solution to this crisis, and it's time to let the drug and insurance industries know that while they'll get a seat at the table, they don't get to buy every chair." -Barack Obama, Speech in Iowa City, IA, 5/27/07

So, is he not going to provide coverage for illegal immigrants and anybody else that isnt an American?

Since he specified AMERICANS, its a valid question.

Obama's health care plan does not exclude illegal immigrants.

You'll pay for their health care.

Our papers are saying that the foreign policies of Mr Bush, Mr Obama and Mr McCain have come into congruence.

Which means the voter has no choice even though s/he has expended vast amounts of hot air in the quaint belief that there was one.

The election is about style and not substance. On the one hand the charismatic healer of the world and on the other the safe pair of hands who knows better than giving himself over to flights of fancy to thrill the ladies.

I think McCain said he would abide by the Supreme Court ruling granting habeas.

Either that or he said we'd give him a fair trial before we hang him.

I can't remember which .... I must be senile. God help me when I get to be your age, c.i.

I enjoyed the speech. I was wondering what happened after the line about his Kenyan dad -- Amanpour just explained that some sort of a chant went up? What was it though? (She said "Kenyan chant" does that mean it was a chant of "Kenya, Kenya, Kenya" or something in their [a] native language?)

As Cyclo said, it was a ululation. To transcribe it for you, it would go something like

>>Female in crowd: yip, yip, yip, ayee, yip, yip, ayee, yip, yip (shouted very rapidly in a high pitched tone).
(Crowd cheers, Obama chuckles.)

As to crowd size, MSNBC has the full video of the speech and it has occasional crowd shots that show the size.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25835684#25835684

Here are some screen shots I did from the video:

http://butrfly.net/Albums/MiscellaneousGoodies/images/obamaGermany.jpg

And here's a link to them where you can enlarge to see them better if you wish.

I know that we're not supposed to be impressed by the size of the crowd if we're not already Obama supporters so, for those that aren't just think of the photos as tourism ads from Berlin's convention visitor's bureau aimed at CEOs looking for venues big enough to hold an international company's annual employee picnic.

One word, BEAUTIFUL:wink:

A valid fear, it seems, for what he actually said:

Quote:
"We have various options. The Nuremberg Trials are certainly an example of the kind of tribunal that we could move forward with. I don't think we'd have any difficulty in devising an international -- internationally supported mechanism that would mete out justice. There's no problem there."
