Mervin (our name for him) hasn't shown up for over a week now, but
he'd show up daily during the summer. He's a meek gentle mannered
guy; I hope he's okay.

Here. I'll help you worry. I'm good at that.

I had a cat disappear while I was in the hospital, but I'm pretty sure he's okay. He was a beautiful cat, and friendly as all getout. I suspect he was kidnapped by an otherwise okay person. If not, he wandered off and made a new friend. I miss him, but I am sure he found a good home.

Mervin isn't one of neko's own cats, Roger, but a regular (welcomed) visitor to his garden.

In such circumstances it is hard to know what to make of his sudden absence.

These two girls have been bosom buddies (almost like mother and daughter) since the moment they met. Princess (on the right in both pictures) was a stray we took in, and Cleo is the pudgy queen of the household. That's Cherl's legs they're laying on.
