i UNDERSTAND THAT SOME FIZZY DRINKS CONTAIN 2 CHEMICALS WHICH TOGETHER produce benzene(I was told this by a haircutter!).
It good to know the latest food/drink scare!
Can you tel us what Benzene is before we start worrying?
I am unsure IF i HAVE SPELLED IT RIGHT,but it can cause LEUKAEMIAS and possibly other cancers.
Isn't it an industrial chemical or something like that?
Jesus, Im a gonna then.
It amazes me comapnies can do that kind of thing just for money!
and I'm almost positive it's true, would a haircutter lie about someting like that?
Benzene is in our environment to varying degrees, I don't know specifically about soft drinks. It's possible it's in your water depending on what local industries are in your area. The oil and gas industries are the big producers. Here's a little more general information:

The two chemicals that make up benzene in drinks are Sodium Benzoate ans Ascorpic Acid(Vitamin C)/E211 ETC
it's for this very reason i cut my own hair
36 brands of drink have been banned.
This is actually something true. Listen to your haircutter and tip her generously. She's actually paying attention!

Do a Google search using - benzene soft drinks
Haircutters, is there anything they DON'T know?
Regulatory agencies in this administration, is there anything they can't spin?
"It's not benzene, well okay it is, but it isn't harmful, well okay but not in small amounts like this, well maybe just a tad bit larger than small, but not by much and you probably won't get sick and die and did we mention we're studying the problem, yeah, and we'll have the results of that study in ten or twelve years and then we can really get to the bottom of things but we'll actually be long gone by then so who cares?"

I really don't think that ONE thing in small doses is going to kill anyone. You have to wonder about all of the pre-existing conditions and and lifestyle choices and stress levels. That all has effects (sometimes very nasty) on folks as well!
