Sorry - I know I wasn't asked, but...

I'd venture to say...the same benefit that you'd get from not believing in Santa Clause.

You already know what I think Jason, so why don't you tell me what you think? Really... what are the benefits of not believing in God? Obviously there must be something, right?

If we don't believe in God, we are no longer under obligation to him and are free to decide for ourselves what is good and what is bad.

Wait!

Didn't someone say that already?

In order for your assertion to have validly the reverse must also be true:

If you do believe in God, you are under obligation to him and are not free to decide for ourselves what is good and what is bad.

Show me how a Mafioso hit man does this by repenting.

The converse is true.

The Mafioso will have much explaining to do.

As will those who may incorrectly use their license.

I kinda know that you have a brain, heph. Just throw me a guess. You can do it! What is the benefit in knowing that Santa Clause doens't really exist? This answer is quite obvious, Heph.

Do you want me to do all the thinking for you? That's not fair, child.

Good is coming home after a long day.
Bad is finding the toilet overflowed.

Good is a sizzlin' steak
Bad is the steak after Fido gets hold of it.

Etc.

Etc.
