I never bought a DVD in my life, lol. I still have VCR's that I barely ever use.
We've got most of the movie channels in satellite, so I never buy them.
Gilmore Girls - it's just so much better to hear them speaking English than German!
Before that
The Fisher King
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Café
Sin City. Thoroughly enjoyed it, not nearly as nasty as I suspected it would be having read through some of the reviews. Something to do with the lack of much colour I assume.
Munich
Crash
Transamerica
"In the hardest place on Earth, love finds a way"
Mr. Postman delivered one of the nicest films I've seen for ages. It's The Emperor's Journey, the film that got the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. If you plan on getting this, make sure you get the original French Version with English sub-titles opposed to the Morgan Freeman talk-over.
I love Frida Kahlo's work. And I thought Salma Hayek's version of Frida was an excellent film.
Hey, Swimpy -- how are you?
Love that parrot movie, too. It will be brought out whenever friends or relatives who haven't seen it show up for a movie.
"Munich" and "Transamerica" are on DVD? I know there may be some pre-orders available but I haven't seen them.
Hey, LW. We love San Francisco, so that movie is fun to watch because we recognize so much of the locations.
Has anyone seen "Bubble?"
Yes, I did love the San Francisco locations having many friends up there and visiting the city so many times.
I saw "Bubble" on the HDTV channel that bought the film for cable. It was an experience -- the actors were all amateurs but the result was, as usual for a Soderbergh film, professional and very thought provoking. I'm not going to look at toy babies every again without getting a chill.
I bought volume one of Gunsmoke, a collection that spans the first nine or so seasons. It begins with John Wayne introducing Jim Arness and ends with Festus's first appearance. When I tried to watch the first of the three discs, the picture began to break apart and then it froze. I took it back to get an exchange. Before I could say a word, the woman behind the counter said, "You can't have a refund." Well, I only wanted an exchange, and got it. But it has irritated me ever since that she told me that. Next time, I will make an issue of getting my money and then buy elsewhere.
I bought a whole bunch. Mostly movies I missed but seen bits and oieces of on TV.
Die Another Day

Manhunter (The original dealing with Hannibal Lecter) starring a young William Petersen, star of CSI
Just dropped through the letterbox today....The Constant Gardener
"The Constant Gardener," a British film was robbed at BAFTA!
Thanks for the info on Bubble, LW. The only Soderberg flicks I didn't like were his forays into mainstream schlock ala Ocea's Eleven.
"Ocean's Eleven" wasn't that bad a remake. I enjoyed it but have little desire to see it again.

"Kafka," "Traffic" and "Solaris" are excellent feathers in his cap.
Yet I still prefer the original Solaris (Tarkovsky) by a mile. It is much closer to the atmosphere of the book and it has a prettier female lead ;-)
