When closing, after the writers name and title, what is correct order of footnotes,ie the sender & preparers initials, cc:, Enclosure, etc.
Also is it appropriate to reference the computer file name of the letter? If so, in what order?
If memory serves me right -
Top of letter (above the date)
PLD/fc
Initials of the sender/preparer
End of letter (Yours ....)
Name
Title
Company
Encl. (1)
CC: Name
Addresss
I have seen, several times, the computer file name on the very bottom of a note but think it is inappropriate to show this on an actual letter that is printed on letterhead. It's somewhat tacky in my opinion.
I've seen the sender/preparer initials below the letter:
Sincerely,
Tom J. Hastings
TJH/wb
Encl: 1
CC: Name
Address
And yes, it's tacky to have the file name on the copy you send out. If you print a draft copy for your own files it would be okay.
