Have any of you heard about the recent expedition that uncovered some new evidence about how the Titanic really sank?! They found two large, intact pieces of the ship's bottom about 1500 feet from the rest of the ship. These pieces were never examined for their role in the sinking. But now they and are helping scientists rewrite the story of how the ship sank.

This discovery is really exciting because it could change the story that everyone has accepted as fact, (the way it was displayed in the movie, Titanic). I just found out that the hosts of Deep Sea Detectives are going to be on Good Morning America on Feb. 21st at 7:30am to discuss the findings.

Just thought you guys might be interested!

The way James Cameron's Titanic (1997) displays the breaking-up of the ship prior to sliding below the surface is accurate, regardless of any additional findings.

Cameron mentioned that the two seperate pieces (the bow and stern) indicate a post-submersal break-up of the ship. The only possible difference from his film would be that the break-up occurred just slightly below the surface of the water, however

Cameron admitted he knew this but just wanted to show the break-up for the film, above water. As for these additional findings indicating perhaps an explosion causing the ships break-up, this is unlikely given the witness accounts that the ship's electricity ceased several minutes prior to the break-up that some witnesses claimed they saw.

The sound of the explosion also would've caused for witnesses to come forward. None did.
