Believe me, you haven't caused me any stress at all. My stress is merely caused by the lack of customer service I'm getting from Dell here on my end.
In my kind of secluded part of the world, customer service only exists monday through friday and if you're lucky you get them for a while on saturday :-(
Unless of course you're buying something ;-)

Anyway, they told be I'd have to wait until monday to speak with someone in customer service.

Oh well, it won't kill me, I think, LOL :-D

I agree with you and think I'm getting a really cool computer for my $$$

I am going to go crazy waiting for it though!

I just checked my email again and my spam blocker was off, so I can't understand why I didn't get anything.
I never ordered anything where I didn't get an email right after.
Maybe it's because we did it over the phone.

Oh wrll, I'll get to the bottom of things on monday.

Anon
He never gave me any phone #s on the phone. The only thing he gave me where the order #s for the computer and printer.

I was able to access the status on their web site right up until late this afternoon, so this is when I got frustrated.

I tried to get some customer service on the site, but it tells me I'm not signed up for this service.

After spending over an hour trying to contact them on the site, I finally call them and they still tell me that I have to speak with customer service on monday.

So, she sits and waits, but she'll get through it ;-)

Ok, so I contacted Dell on the phone and they tell me I can't get an invoice until after I get my computer, but he was very nice and gave me some specifics on my computer.
Excuse my spelling guys.

P4 3giggahurts (spelling?)
60x duel DVD/CD burner
19' flat panel ultra sharp monitor
Windows xp home
1GB
DDR2 SD Ram
2 year extended warrenty (giving me 3 years totlal warrenty)
enhanced multi something or other (can't read my own writing).
Telephoni
128 MB video card
floppy
3 year anti virus with Mcaffee (spelling)
250 something hard drive.

There's more, but it's all regular stuff I guess.

I also got my customer # from them, so at least I know I'm in existance, lol.

He tells me my computer will be made in Texas and I won't see it for another 2 weeks.

Seems an adequate setup - be sorta interesting to know about the audio, graphics, and network solutions, but given what you've mentioned, there's no reason to expect they'll be any less adequate. I expect the machine will impress helloutta you, and serve you well for a good long while. Gonna say it was money well spent (particularly considering it wasn't like it was real money or anything Twisted Evil ) Do you have a broadband internet connection? Hope so - that machine should fly on the 'net.

Mr Dell told me on the phone that I won't see my baby until at least next friday and I'm gonna go crazy waiting for it. I'm so excited I feel like I'm going to bust out of my own skin.
My HP (computer I have now) was my very first computer, unless you count web tv and I've gotten some great years out of this old girl, but I am so ready to move on.
My HP is great for surfing and stuff, but I spend quite a bit of time playing games on my PC and mine just doesn't have what it takes to play the new games.
Also, my eyes aren't getting any better as I get older (did I say that?) and I need a clearer digital screen ;-)
So, am I all set up ok for gaming?

Since I paid in Canadian money, I hope they don't send me a toy computer.

Don't worry, I'm watchin him ;-)

If the video card is what would be expected in a machine with the other components you've listed, it oughtta be an OK gamer.

Just outta curiosity, I bounced around a bit on Dell's website, and discovered you can piece together a pretty decent gamer from them:

XPS 600

Dell XPS 600 Pentium® 4 Processor 660 with HT Technology (3.60GHz, 800 FSB)
Operating System Windows®XP Media Center Edition 2005
Memory 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs
Keyboard Saitek 104-Key Eclipse Backlit Gaming Keyboard (Ships Separately)
Video Cards Dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX with SLI Technology
Dual TV Tuner + Remote Control - watch one channel while recording another
Hard Drive 160GB Performance RAID 0 (2 x 80GB 10K SATA2 HDDs)
Floppy Drive and Media Reader 13 in 1 Media Card Reader and 3.5 in Floppy Drive
Mouse LOGITECH G5 Laser Gaming Mouse (ships separately)
Modem No Modem Requested
CD or DVD Drive Dual Drives: 48x CD-RW Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/ double layer write capable
Sound Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic (D), w/Dolby® Digital 5.1
2nd Hard Drive 500GB Serial ATA2 Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Enhanced Software for CD or DVD Burner Combo: Sonic DigitalMedia and MyDVD Plus (DVD+RW only)
Memory Keys Sandisk 1 GB Cruzer Mini USB Flash Drive
Logitech Freedom 2.4 GHz Cordless Joystick
Saitek X52 Flight Control System
Hardware Warranty 1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr At-Home Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
Dell W3706MC LCD TV Dell 37 inch HighDefinition LCD TV
Hardware Support Services 1Yr Ltd. Warranty- Advance Exchange

TOTAL: $8,526.00

Admittedly, a $2300 LCD Monitor/HDTV might be thought a bit of an extravagance, but from a practicality standpoint, it IS dual-purpose, and I've been thinking about HDTV for the office ... I could get rid of the 21" CRT monitor that dominates my desk, the 32" TV which is over in the opposite corner of the room (not at all well situated for viewing while sitting at the keyboards), and the little 9" TV that's in one of a hutches on my desk, neither of which TV is HDTV-capable anyway. Besides, doing without extended warranty, while retaining my current printer, scanner, fax, surround sound system, and not getting buncha software I already have saves some money, too.

Pity, though; Mrs Timber has her mind set on an all-stainless steel appliance, butcher-block countertop, slate-floored kitchen before I get to do anything else in the office. Oh, well, I don't really do a lotta gaming anyway.

Wow Timber, that's quite a computer you put together there.
I sniffed around the site myself and had my eye on that XPS because it said it was great for gaming, but I don't think he picked that one for me because I don't play action games.
I told him I was in to the strategy games like the CSI and detective games, so he thought the 5150 would be perfect for me.
Boy would I love to have $8,000 to blow on the computer you put together here.
Mr. Dell tried selling me a 23" HGTV monitor for half price with my system ($250) and if I wasn't at the end of my credit card limit, he probably would have talked me into it.
Stainless steel appliences sound good too ;-)

I forgot to answer your question about broadband. We just got high speed in my area and to be honest with you, I don't know what the hell it is.
I've ordered the high speed and it's connected through though phone line. I got a package with filters and a thing they call the modem.
Is that broadband or is it DSL?
My son will need a wireless internet card put into my existing computer (I'm giving it to him) and a wireless router.

That is DSL (digital subscriber line). Broadband just refers to the high speed ability.

So, for $2K, did that computer come pre-configured with virus free porn?

That's what I thought. I don't think we'll see broadband in these parts for quite some time.

Oh damn, I forgot to ask about the virus free porn!

DSL is one flavor of broadband - if you've got DSL, you've got broadband.

Well, my incredidbly generous sister and b-in-law (the pair I work for) are going to buy me an Acer laptop. What does one say or do when someone offers to buy you a computer? What I did was make an ass of myself and then ask to split the bill. With a sale and a rebate it'll be around 800 bucks.

I think I'd start with "thank you", but at this point it sounds like you're on the hook for at least half of the $800 (or is that half of the total?).

Make one joke about a dying cat and A2K will ignore you forever.

Speaking of, someone hit a cat in front of me on my way to work this morning. It was in bad shape so I put it out of its misery with the only hard object I had at hand, my HP laptop. The laptop came through with flying colors, a bit bloodied, but still works perfectly. I'm going to petition the state of Michigan to add HP laptops to the list of allowable weapons during the fall deer season.
