Yes, kickycakes. Blinds without curtains just looks depressing.

Also, you need to consider the colors in your place (what color is the carpet and couch?) Good luck!

Go to your local Homo Depot a quick search found you have one on 23rd Street...east side. Or maybe just invest in some paint and paint little sunbeams on the glass...

Personally I think you need to go with drapes and some of those mini-slatted blinds. Then again maybe go with the blinds and some light weight curtains. Have you considered just covering over the windows entirely with paper bags from Grand Union?

Yeah, go with drapes and mini-blinds...you can get both in a wide array of colors suitable for any room and personality.

Be sure to post pictures once you've decorated.

Do you mind, Sturgis, my store is on 23rd Street. Try staying in business three blocks from a blackhole.

I have no curtains. I have blinds, I have curtain rods of every variety. Curtains you can buy at Bed, Bath and Beyond on 6th Ave and 18th.

Those are totally depressing, Kicky.

There are lots of window treatments if you're going for shutting out light/ insulation etc. that are both effective and much cheaper than that. And not nearly so depressing.

Like, get something more effective and cheaper for the insulation-type stuff, then for drapes, more like this:

Or I dunno, something. (That one is $14.99 for a package of 2, with tie-backs, 100% cotton, 69" long and 55" wide.) No idea what colors/ patterns would appeal.

I was gonna suggest Indian bedspreads, which I dimly remember through a haze of incense (and other smoke) from the last '60s.....

Where was I? Oh yeah, go to Joe's store by all means!

One word of warning. I was once a heavy cigar smoker. I had blinds and heavy drapes. I got rid of the drapes because they held the stale cigar smoke aroma.

I hate drapes, and everything that goes along with them.

oh, flyboy, thanks for the warning, but I don't smoke anymore.

I can't seem to get my avatar to quit though. He may look tough, but he has no damn will power at all.

Absolutely, get hardware and all the doodads at Joe's. What you furl from that or over it can change over time.

Me, I had serious miniblinds once, much stronger than what I see out there now, flown into by my neighbor's duck, foxy, and dented forever. I am about to tear away all the miniblinds at my new place, not for that reason.

Tastes change. Figure out what you like yourself.

What's the name of Joe's store? Is he the owner?

Might as well give him a plug.

You got confused. Or more confused.

You've always wanted to have a relationship with a stevedore then write up the musical screenplay as

My Summer with A Steve.

Opening song:

I can't ignore the Steve I adore next door

Not my store. I'm one of a triad of managers.

Opened in 1912. Three floors packed with the stuff needed to live in New York.

Between Lex and Third on 23rd
