I wouldn't mind if it was hard if it at least eventually got me where I wanted to go. (This one was a set of compromises.)
It was fun, though.
Need to wrap up for the night, might try another one tomorrow.

Still a bit on the maudlin side, but here goes:

Soz,
I just ran past your Sozlet stories today. I didn't have time to stop then, but I thought that was a cute idea and intend to go back and read them. This is kind of like that in a way.

one last for the day
i used to think about the interconnectedness of things even before i heard this tom waits song
nobody ever has to feel alone, the same moon here is the same moon as there
That was a very nice "postcard" to wake up to, djjd.
Really awesome, all of you. I swear I'll come back to this when I'm at home and have more time and freedom.
I'll be looking forward to seeing some of your mini-bios, FreeDuck!
Ohh. I like that one very much, djjd.
You guys are what keeps me here at A2k. I don't know anyone IRL who is as imaginative, creative and honest as you, boomerang. I, on the other hand, don't feel like I can be any of those things, but I'll try. Don't expect much.
Does the below qualify for this thread, or am I missing some vital bit of instruction?
My first try. Not very good with the letters.
i like that very much freeduck
give it a try swimpy, it's good exercise for the brain i find
Evocative, FreeDuck.
Swimpy, totally.
So, people who have posted these so far, what was your process?
I tried to think of something that was "me"... decided something deaf-related... went through images on the computer for inspiration (no, no, no, maybe, no), came up with the fish, riffed on it for a bit, and decided I wanted three lines with something central highlighted in the lighter shadow on the darker fish. (The shadow disappears on the first two, then "not the same" stands out.)
Anyway, I'm not sure where to start with the next one, wondering about the process others are using.
Both of those, djjd, are great. I was reading about the Alabama church fires in the paper this morning and it is so sad that someone would do that and then I saw your postcard and it made me catch my breath.
Wow, Swimpy, thank you! I like to give myself assignments and see where it leads.
I think you're selling yourself short. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Hi Questioner, I was hoping you'd show up because I know you create amazing images! The only "rule" is that the text be autobiographical.
FreeDuck! That's great! What an amazing comment.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone, and for the great idea, boomer. Did you ever consider being a teacher? You come up with the best assignments.
I'm trying to figure out the process too. I thought of the words first, and then went looking for an image that reflected the words in some way. I stole that one off of goole images -- I hope that's legal.
I'll try to make the next one more biographical.
I guess I don't really have a process.
The "Bitch" one was promted by soz's "fish out of water" postcard. The "Brain" one was promted by someone starting a thread about forgetting to go to an appointment.
So I guess my process is not trying to make something but letting the idea grow from something else. Then trying to distill it down to a few lines. Then the words seems to suggest an image. Then I play around with it a while.
I've stolen most of my images off Google too, FreeDuck. The first one is the only one done from my own photos.
