Oh! It's live! How marvelous!

I have the most wonderful picture that I am dying to post. It is of a sunset at the North Pole, and you can see the slice of the moon over the sun. Someone sent it to me. The problem is, that it is in some format that won't "save" to my hard drive. I can forward it by E Mail, but can't save it!

Any ideas?

What format is it in?

Beats me. When I save it, you can't see the picture. I find that I can open it with my "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". When I try to save it to "My documents", I get a message that "This target cannot handle this type of document".

I E Mailed it to someone who will try to figure out how to post the darn thing. I would love you all to see it.

As for the photo, I concur it's a fake because a) it looks much more like computer art than a real photo -- too perfect. Also I don't buy the size of the moon in relation to the sun; but even if you could make that happen through a telephoto lense, the odds against the moon conveniently being exactly centred over the sun are "astronomical" pardon the pun. But most of all because Phreno is absolutely correct -- the orientation of the crescent moon tilts further back the further you are from the poles, i.e. can only be seen as a "boat" ( like in the picture ) from the equator. That's an end to it!

Well, I dunno. I, of all people are usually very careful about being caught up in internet skullduggery. Maybe some members would like to discuss the ways that they got caught in a hoax!
