I was at an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet and I was intimidated by these two enormous fat people who kept piling food onto theirs plates. I said to myself, "these people are getting a great deal! I can barely finish two plates if I gourge myself". Thus, the fasting and joint thing should work when I'm going to one of those places.
