So what's everyone talking about now?
Quick update - anyone?
1 meter = 1.094 yard
So, 200 yards is 218.8 meters.
Nah, I'll pass on that thread. I'll stick to this one instead. This one is already 223 pages.
I was just telling these good people about the fabulousity of the metric system.
It's not that the metric system is so great as much as our American system totally sucks! Whoever came up with the idea of "feet" and "inches" should have been shot. 212 degrees is boiling and 32 degress is freezing? What's up with that?
Threads, now. I do recall that when I was in my adolescence (as opposed to my dotage, wherein I now reside), the word was commonplace slang for one's attire. "Nice threads" was a commonly heard compliment when one wanted to comment on his/her friend's new outfit -- usually w zoot suit, of course. So, in that sense, shall we now start to get rid of our threads?
I'm staying with my threads.
It's snowing.
see? with metric system it's 0 for freezing, 100 for boiling. There is tens and hundreds of everything (mililiters, deciliters, liters, miligrams, grams, dekagrams, kilograms, milimeters, centimeters, meters......) no 12 or 8.9 or 32 or godknows how many subunits in a unit. Makes no sense, dear friends. The movement for change has to come from within. We can do it. Stir masses for centimeters! Lead the crowds towards dekagrams!
Boiling?
That means HOT WATER, right?
So...guess who woke up this morning to find NO HOT WATER IN HER BUILDING, huh?
******* gas must have got blown out in the high wind gust last night.
So....who had a massage last nught, and her hair is full of OIL, right?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
So you had to go to work all stinky with oily hair? Eeeewww!
Well, I boiled water for a wash.....but my hair is oily, yes...'
ewwwww
maybe you should rub a baguette over your head?

These days we'll take any mention of liberal heroism, even in fun.

Yep, for sure. Tho Joe Hill was no liberal, he was with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), one of the more militant socialist unions. From the IWW preamble:
Quote:There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life. Between [the working class and the employing class] a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system
Can the Wobblies end a thread?
Let's wait and see.
Maybe you could rub a man over your head?
