Seems to me that most primary care physicians, at least in my area, have taken up a specialty as well - I see a G.I. specialist but he's also a primary care doctor, and my primary care doctor is also a lung specialist (which is why I went to him the first place).
I'd like to have a urologist in call at home
Well dyslexia, I wondered who'd be the first to pick up on typo!
Primary care physician is not equivalent to a general practicioner. You can choose a primary care - depending
on your insurance - in whatever specialty field he might be.
In fact, I'd choose a specialist over a GP any day.
