@Thomas,
This Bavarian desperate hurry - we've more than 20 hours to wait for the Bostonian schedule ... Wink

This American democracy thing doesn't work for me. Let's just decide the matter autocratically: Walter and I will be at Jacob Wirth's at 7pm. Everybody else, be there or be square! (Stern look.)

Since Ulla will be there at that time as well, it's democracy. ([Foreign] Guest's votes count double!)

Yay, Thomas for Czar--that's the only way we Bostonians can come to a decision. Good work, T. I may not be there RIGHT at 7, but I'll get there so don't leave me.

Good god, I think my dentist overlooks Jake's place. I thought it did. New England Medical Center and Chinatown on the Orange Line are near it. Park St, Boylston St., and Downtown Crossing are within about a five minute walk. There are a fair number of parking garages nearby, including one under the Common, and I think one in the Transportation Building, and you could probably find a space around the Common or the Public Garden rho Saturday night may complicate that, since there are also night spots in the area.

Logistics question: On my trip downtown tomorrow, I'd like to Park & Ride with the Blue Line, whose final stop is Wonderland Station in Revere, MA. The only thing that would change my mind would be if Revere was an unusually unsafe neighborhood around the station. Is it?

He'll be asking about the duck tour soon - and the blue man group!!!

and now a little history to whet yer appetites...
Quote:
Jacob Wirth came from a family of wine growers in Kreuznach, Prussia. He came to America and shortly thereafter, in 1868,
he opened his restaurant. In 1878, he moved across the street, to where the restaurant still stands.

The dining room was made up of simple mahogany tables with a few large steins and bottles for decoration. The floor was
covered with sawdust; the tables were bare.

The establishment’s most notable feature was its bar, a long mahogany structure well equipped to dispense draught beers.
Above the bar, a Latin motto proclaimed SUUM CUIQUE, generally translated to mean “Each his own.” A clock and a portrait
of the founder – in a circular medallion – added the finishing touches.

Along with several special dishes each day, the menu featured staples that included sausages, pig’s knuckles, boiled bacon,
hams, cheeses and herrings. The customers included the rich and famous of the day. Boxing champion John L. Sullivan
was among them. (Legend is that he suffered a rare knockdown when he was hit by a beer barrel rolling off a brewer’s
wagon into the restaurant.)

@Region Philbis,
You might say that this is going to be a Wirth-while event.
