@jespah,
Well, from Thomas' point of view, it's really excellent. (As it is CJ's view, too. Of course ...)
(A little historic excursus: when Hannibal crossed the Alps, he ordered all footsore, ill, needless members of his expedition "to the left". These persons became the the founders of Swabian and Bavarian tribes in Southern Germany.)

@Walter Hinteler,
Yeah, we were disadvantaged at the beginning, but we emerged and prevailed as winners in the end!!

@Walter Hinteler,
We'll leave this Wednesday morning (Tuesday night in US) for Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Calfornia ...

... and fly from SFO to Logan on June 1. Leaving Salem (where we stay) the 9th for ... Munich/Germany.

(I know, it's far too early to ask you for plans/dates .... it's only that I revive the thread a bit Wink )

@jespah,
If I were to make it, I would be looking at a dinner on the 1st night. Breakfast, lunch or dinner on the next day. Breakfast before flying out. What would be the dates that would work for yall for one or more of those?

Aha! The thread has been revived. The 1st is a Wednesday and the 9th is a Thursday. Weekends are always best for big gatherings. Smaller ones work during the week.

I'd be happy to hang out with you in the Cambridge area after work any weekday! (for me that's well before 5pm).

Am I sensing another gathering?? The last time I went was so long ago and I wasn't even old enough to drink.

I'd love to get together with everyone as an adult! However I still get lost very easily :-)

Yes, you do! We did so well at starting to plan (for us sluggish Bostonians). But, it seems we have stalled. Walter and Ulla will be here soon! What shall we do? Where shall we meet?

We'll arrive on Wednesday next week rather late, staying until the following week, Thursday evening (accommodation in Salem).

can somebody recapitulate what we are planning (plotting?) to do? How late Wednesday? I'm open pretty late, probably from 7-8 pm on. Thursday is good for me. FRi., Sat., Sun. not good, 5/6 on is good. Is anything firmed up? Kris, Jes?

Still flexible over the entire time period, but not really in a position to suggest a venue. I'm just going to throw in Borders on Harvard Square so the Natives feel shamed to suggest something better.

We're mostly free. We have a 5K at night on the 14th but are otherwise flexible. With the students gone, parking and getting into places should be easier.
