@ossobuco,
I remember when my brother and his wife and my wife and I did a trip to New England many decades ago, and there was an important monument in Concord that I can't remember for what purpose. Anybody know? Was it about the Civil War?

@cicerone imposter,
I'm guessing the old north bridge, but don't trust me. Lots about Concord here -

CI, there are many tributes to the Civil War in Concord - the Old North Bridge is by far the best known and most visited.

I didn't take many photos, but here's one of the group that our most-accommodating-waiter took for us. It was purple, scoop neck, 3/4 sleeve, purple t-shirt day (but Jes and I didn't tell anyone else).

@cicerone imposter,
There might even be something relevant to the revolutionary war.

@ossobuco,
osso, That's a great summary of what happened at Concord. Thanks much for sharing that; it did bring back some of the stuff we learned while traveling that area, and I remember seeing Hawthorne's house which, if I remember correctly, is a huge (at least two stories) brick house.

Looks like a great get-together.

@roger,
Doh! I knew Civil War didn't sound right! Thanks Roger.

NOTE TO ALL... monuments in Concord tend to be about the REVOLUTIONARY WAR!

One more pic from me, for now. This is of the front of the restaurant we ate at while we were still awaiting Mac's arrival (bad grammar!). A plaque on the facade says it was the largest train station on the track from Boston to Maine (at one point). The orange line runs just behind the restaurant every 15-20 minutes.

Look at all these great losers! Between mac, jespah and Thomas you must
have a combined weight loss of 500+ lb., eh?

They are great losers. They have inspired me. I bought running gear today. And I made plans (tentative!) to jog locally with my housemate..... very exciting!

Fantastic quintet, and it seems that we can say the photo shots "seen round the world" as opposed to heard round the world. What, no tea? Razz

@cicerone imposter,
Monument Square in Concord is named after a monument
honoring Concord townsmen who died in the Civil War.

What is that thing just outside the window? It is big. And it has a trunk or tentacle. Fortunately, our crew appear to be about to leave. Thank goodness they all survived.
