?'At the order of the Worker-Peasant government I am always ready to go to the defence of my homeland, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and, as a warrior of the Worker-Peasant Red Army, I swear to defend her manfully, skilfully, worthily and honourably, not sparing my life or blood for the purpose of achieving a total victory over our enemies.'
Military Oath, 1941-1945
Can anyone help me with this documentary commentary? Struggling on this last one. They just give me a quote or extract and i have to write 500 words on it.
Short-term (the sort of basic questions that you should ask of any source)
What does the document say? Is on politics, society, international affairs, family life etc?
Who is the author? Is s/he famous or influential? Is s/he typical of their social class or a climate of opinion?
Is the date significant? (i.e. relating to particular event or historical process)
What sort of document is it? (e.g., legal proclamation, newspaper, personal memoir etc.)
What was the intended audience? Is it neutral or is it trying to persuade?
Was it published at the time it was written? If so, what effect did it have?
Is it an unusual source or does it represent something commonplace?
The Long-term context
All of the extracts relate to a wider issue, can you explain that issue?
How far does the document throw important light on this issue?
Does it represent a particular viewpoint or ideology? If so, can you give any other examples of this?

We tend not to do homework on A2K and this looks pretty straight forward.
You might start with a simple Google search. I came up with this in seconds.
