Hi Deadkiss
I guess I'll stick my two cents worth in, if you don't mind.
First of all, are you a cheerleader, or on any kind of a sports team, such as tennis, volleyball, etc.? If so, you would do well to wait till you have an extended absence from these things. I could not imagine doing cheers while in the middle of a healing belly piercing.
Now, when you first get it done, it does hurt a little. Not alot, though. Think of it like going to the doctor and getting a shot. It stings at first, but happens so fast that you only feel the actual penetration for a few seconds. After that, you will feel it still ......but in a different way. It's more like a light stingy ache. Nothing bad. It will be a difficult to bend over the first few days or so. At least all the way over. Will be better to bend DOWN, instead!
I will tell you what I did when I got my piercing done. The guy that did the piercing for me, swore by it. I'll tell ya .....it actually did work, too!! Will it work for all people? I don't see why not, as long as you keep it very very clean. Don't wear tight clothes.
Here's what you do:
When you decide to get this done ...... there will be some fluids seeping from the piercing. This is normal! Our bodies do try to reject foreign objects. When this happens it causes a crust to form around the healing wound. Now, what you need to be careful of .....is NOT pulling it off while you are cleaning it. It's natures way of trying to put a protective coating around it. Or at least that's how I look at it.
BUT ....... you do still need to keep the area clean. And with this crust forming, it causes the ring or bar to become almost stationary as it sticks to this crust. So what do you do? It's easy. Get yourself something called "tea tree oil." You are going to use this to keep the skin soft around the piercing, WITHOUT removing the crusty scab forming. Just keep putting this on and letting it soak into your skin. It will soften it up in a short time and allow you to be able to spin your ring or bar. Make sure when you get to this point that you put another drop onto the ring so it can get INSIDE the peircing as you turn it.
Now ....... this may sound crazy but it's very important. Once you have done the above (at least 3 times a day)........... just before you go to bed at night, take an asprin. Chop it up if you can, and put it on a spoon. Put just enough water on the spoon to moisten the asprin and make a paste. When you have the paste made, put it right on your piercing. Leave it there for about 20 minutes. Rinse it all off.
Do this every day, hun .........and your piercing should be fine. Mine healed up very quickly and with no problems that it seems alot of people have.
Now .......I mostly use saline to keep mine clean. I have heard that sea salt with a little warm water is great too!
There are alot of awesome rings and bars out there! Some will work for you and some will not. I wear mostly dainty bars or rings. Nothing big for me. I don't really care for them. Some of them are heavy and can make you sore. I've gotten into really liking small diamonds around my navel. The daintier the better.
Good luck!
