I read Zodiac by the same author and quite enjoyed it, although it did start to run out of steam at the end (so many thrillers do).

I think the size of Cryptonomicon is off-putting. It's like confronting a thick text book.


Yep, also seemed like Stephenson had never actually met any human women and was just makin' 'em up as he went along. Plus it totally ran out of steam at the end. The main interest for me to keep going was the stuff about code-breaking; the rest was dull. A good editor could have lopped off about 3/4 of it and it would have been taut and fun.
