not all of them, anon. some simply walk the path, and lead by example.

as i understand the words attributed to the christ, it seems that he would wish for his followers to pray that all soldiers in all armies would lay down their weapons in peace and go home to their families.

OK- So I won't go to heaven. Who cares? The entire concept of a heaven has absolutely no meaning for me.

Seriously folks, I think that poor Momma has been taking the brunt of the frustrations of A2K members about many of the things that are going on in Washington. As far as I am concerned, she is entitled to believe what she believes, and is entitled to express these views on A2K.

If anyone disagrees with those views to the point where they believe that the views have absolutely no validity, they have the choice of responding or not responding.

As Momma knows, I don't agree with her, or even respect many of her beliefs, but I respect her RIGHT to hold these beliefs.

As far as praying for the troops, it certainly will do no harm, and if Momma gets some comfort from that, fine. I certainly prefer someone spending their energy praying for troops, than standing with picket signs in front of abortion clinics.

I also think that those folks who are concerned about the country heading towards a more theocratic stance, that the energy spent with arguing with Momma would be better spent writing to congress.

Well, the pushing christians are up to their usual tricks. They assume, for the convenience of their self-righteous argument, that those who opposed their nonsense and their impositions are angry. It's useful for them to attempt to characterize critics as indulging an irrational emotion, because of the complete lack of rationality in their imaginary friend superstition.

The charge of bigotry is startling hypocricy. Answers-dot-com defines bigot as: "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ." I can think of no better definition of the pushing type of modern, evangelical American christian--and Intrepid seems to wish to be one of the club, without actually having to be an American--he loves to rant against America too much for that.

I just love this one:

"Bigot is first recorded in English in 1598 with the sense 'a superstitious hypocrite.' "

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rolling
Rawhide
Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishing my girl was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good victuals, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em on (head 'em up)
Head 'em up (move 'em up)
Move 'em on (head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Rawhide

Keep movin' movin' movin'
Though their disapprovin'
Keep them doggies moving
Rawhide
Don't try to understand them
Just rope, throw and brand them
Soon we'll be living high and wide
My heart's calculating
My true love will be waiting
Be waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em up (head 'em up)
Head 'em up (move 'em on)
Move 'em on (head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Rawhide
Yah!
Move 'em on (head 'em up)
Head 'em up (move 'em on)
Move 'em on (head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (ride 'em in)
Rawhide
Yah!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'

Did you read the definition of bigot, Intrepid, instead of just responding to Setanta without reading what he writes?

Sqinney my love, please feel free to pray!! I for one, am going to work on seeing if we can't get them some body armor. I regret that people who honestly get Christ get in the line of fire when I blow my top with these psuedo-Christians. Please accept my apologies for my frustrations as I respect you most fervently!! I defer to your prayers for our troops!!

He knows nothing about me. He knows nothing about what I do or not feel about the U.S. He insists on making these accusations at every possible opportunity. He seems to rant about everything and everybody and does so with no facts. I am tired of his unfounded accusations.

Anon-Voter,

I am really trying very hard to understand you and your position. But, I would really like to know just how you decide who is or who isn't a real Christian.

It seems that the only ones you consider to "get Christ" are the ones that agree with you. I would like some clarification on this, if I may. I am not trying to be a smart aleck on this, Anon. Perhaps if I understand your criteria for being a Christian I can understand you better.

What do you really believe "praying for our troops" will accomplish? Do you honestly believe that less of our men and women will be killed?

The way to help our troops is to make sure that our government provides the proper eequipment for our soldiers. Did you know that this administration provided sub-standard equpment to our troops, and that was the cause of some 80 percnet of our marines getting killed for nothing?

Wake up and smell the coffee. It has nothing to do with "prayer."

I know Intrepid does not need me to stick up for him, but in all fairness here, I just did a search on his posts and I didn't find anything he ever said about America or Americans offensive.

As a matter of fact, there is one person that posts regularly their obvious hate for American and Americans and Intrepid has stuck up for America and Americans in those posts.

I would really love to see this end between Intrepid and Setanta. They are both intelligent men and I know they both have plenty to say that is pertinent to the discussions at hand.

Do you know that it accomplishes nothing? Do you know that less men and women won't be killed? The point is, someone said let's pray for our troops. What is the harm? Can't we pray for them as well as do whatever else needs to be done?

Are you making sure our government provides them the proper equipment?

I have troops that ask for prayer on a daily basis. Should I tell them, "No, it won't do any good?" Should I tell them that their wanting prayer means nothing?

As long as one single soldier asks me for prayer, they are going to get it. Afterall, what is me taking time out to pray compared to what that soldier is doing for the whole of the United States?
