And common decency doesn't appear to be in yours Dok. Does it make you feel good to point out flaws in others? You are so superior?

MA DID pray them into this place!

From the thread *Let's duke it out!*

You can't tell me God doesn't answer prayer. I have been asking God to bring more Christians to A2K and he's sure doing it. I submit that the non-believers perhaps are feeling the power of God maybe?

Hear my prayer, Doktor S, oh great satanist and person who I am praying to right now at random because praying to you will work just about as well as praying to god...except that with you, at least there is a possibility of me getting some kind of response...so anyway, Doktor S, I pray for some poonani...I need to get some poonani soon, Doktor S...please hear my prayer and deliver me some poonani at your earliest convenience...to thee I pray....

Careful MA, I think you may bust a capillary. Stress isn't good for you. I'm sure some hard praying will make you feel better.
My sig, by the way, was inspired by yours. How do you feel about being inspiring?

I hereby decree that you shall receive poonani sometime within the next 1,000 days. See, unlike that 'other guy' I personally respond to all my prayers! convert today and receive a waterfront condo in heaven!

I am afraid I am at a great loss of understanding here this morning. The question had been brought up about why "we" were not praying for the Iraqi people. I thought about it and felt the right thing to do would be to start a thread for prayers for the Iraqi people. I felt msolga, especially, made an excellent point. I felt her compassion for these people should be recognized.

I am at a loss because no one that is complaining about the Iraqi people being ignored in this thread has even posted a single word in that thread.

Can someone, anyone please tell me why that is?

Here is the link to that thread:

MA

As (I think) I said before, I'm not the praying type of person. My concern for the Iraqi people is more likely to be expressed in a political or news thread. My point (here) was that I found it strange that the Christian folk on this thread were praying for the US troups & not the Iraqi victims of the invasion.

For me, I have realized and decided that public prayer on a public forum is for the public. My prayers (for all concerned) are to God. The content of my prayer is a personal thing between me and God and when I pray, I do not pray for only a minute or two or what would go into a few typed lines.

You can be sure that my prayers include your American soldiers, the people of Iraq as well as the oppressed worldwide.

Also, I realize that this public prayer only incites some to post remarks that should not be associated with the sanctity of prayer.

My prayers will continue, but not within the bounds of this forum.

As I've been reading page after page of this thread, this time-honoured old Dylan song keeps popping in & out of my head. Yes, I know it's been posted many a time before on A2K, but it seems very appropriate, again:

With God On Our Side:
-Bob Dylan

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the heroes
I's made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side.

Oh the First World War, boys
It closed out its fate
The reason for fighting
I never got straight
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side.

When the Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
The Germans now too
Have God on their side.

I've learned to hate Russians
All through my whole life
If another war starts
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side.

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.

Thanx for posting that, msolga. Did you see I started a thread for the Iraqi people? I dedicated it to you for your compassion. I hope I did you proud.

I understand where you are coming from. Thanx for explaining it all to me. I do appreciate it.

er ... MA, you did notice that Dylan was rather less than impressed, rather critical in fact, with the notion of God supporting any particular side in a war?
