I have no problem with praying for our troops to come home. I most assuredly would have no problem with that. I pray they all come home soon and safe. I pray for our country. I pray for our leaders.http://www.smileys.ws/smls/yahoo/00000042.gif

If not for all the 'praying' going on the war probably would have never gotten enough support to get off the ground. Praying for soldiers to return when it was praying that sent them to begin with seems laughably hypocritical.

As an outsider, this comment really surprises me.

I never prayed for the war to start. I don't know anyone who did.

I pray for our troops to return safely home as soon as possible.http://www.smileys.ws/smls/yahoo/00000042.gif

I'll betthey're praying for an end to the horror.

Well, I was talking allegorically.
I am not saying it is prayer itself that is to blame, but the unwavering support of those that pray in a man that prays for his answers. A support that probably wouldn't exist if not for this common (though wholey unrelated to anything political) bond.

What would you have to say if your president was an atheist or satanist instead of a Christian?

I doubt that all Christians in the U.S. voted for your current president.

But you keep leaving the rest of the world out of your prayers here, MA.

That's because this thread is pray for our troops, msolga.

I do think I said earlier to pray for everyone. I'd have to check but I think I did.

I noticed that too, Momma. I am sure it was an oversight on this thread because it specifically is for your troops. :-)

Ahem.
I have no president, I have a Prime Minister.
Not that I give a rats ass about politics.

But if I did, what I would have to say would be either 'YAY!' or 'whew!'

MA

It's just that I have to keep reminding folk on this thread about the Iraqis! Seeing the US troops are in Iraq it seems perfectly natural to me to automatically include them in your posts & prayers, yes? Doesn't happen, then you wave this http://www.smileys.ws/smls/yahoo/00000042.gif while praying. The troops (hopefully) can eventually go home, but the Iraqis are stuck with the awful post-invasion mess of their country.

msolga,

Please do not think that I don't care about the Iraqis people. I do. If you want to start a thread to pray for them, I promise you I will be one of the very first to join and post a prayer.

I do not get into the politics of the war, msolga. Whether the war is right or not is not what I concern myself with right now. I support our troops. I am proud of them. I love them. I pray for them daily. But, as I said, I pray for everyone in the world.

All the arguing about the war right now will change nothing. It just upsets most people. Our President is in office until someone else is elected. Those are just the facts.

I hope you understand where I am coming from, msolga. I, in no way, wish to diminish the way you feel about the war or anything else for that matter.

I think the point is that whatever religion, or lack thereof, shouldn't effect, so directly, the prez' agenda.

That is exactly my point, littlek. No matter what beliefs your president held, there would be some that would back him based on his acceptance of their particular view. Not, necessarily, that they would agree with him.

Personally, I think that religion should be kept out of politics and vice versa
