strange word for pale pink!

Reply Mon 12 Dec, 2005 01:50 pm
I bought a handbag recently which is black leather with a very pale pink leather flap. There was card attached which described the colour as "black/.....". I have thrown away the card and can't remember the unusual word that described the very pale pink.

I believe it was a 5 letter word, ending in ia, something like onyia or nuyia. Every time I use the bag it drives me mad not being able to remember the word! I assume that the word refers to the very pale pink colour generally and not just to very pale pink leather. Please can anyone help me remember the word?

Thanks very much!

"fuschia" perhaps? That's not 5 letters, but it comes immediately to mind.

fushia is not a colour, it's a state of mind, not at all unlike periwinkle.

Thanks but very much NOT! Fuschia is a common word and signifies a bright pink!

Mebbe a coined word, something proprietary to the vendor, and not really a part of the language ... sorry if I'm no help here, I'm not real familiar with womens furnishings or the purveying of such; they're pretty much non-factors in my world.

Was it maybe just a word the designer made up?

Sometimes they jerk you around like that.

I'm thinking of a 5 letter word about pink, but it's common and naughty.

sepia has ia at the end, but I doubt that was the word

Wondered when this thread would devolve into off-color alusions. Looks like we've hit that point.

Thanks to everyone. No, I am sure it was not a made up word. I will go back to the shop and see if I can find out the answer and then educate all of you. It is the very palest pink imaginable.
