You said...
This is a true story that happened in Japan.
In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tore open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside was hammered into one of its feet. He saw this, felt pity, and at the same time he was curious. When he checked the nail, turns out, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.
What happened?
The lizard had survived in such a position for 10 years! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed!
So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it had been doing, and what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appeared another lizard, with food in its mouth.
Ahh! He was stunned and at the same time, touched deeply. Another lizard had been feeding the stuck one for the past 10 years...
Such love, such a beautiful love! Such love happened with this tiny creature...
What can love do?
It can do wonders!
Love can do miracles!
Just think about it; one lizard had been feeding the other one
untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.
If a small creature like a lizard can love like this... just imagine how we can love if we try.
That was nice of you, Stuh.
Yes stuh, but it means so much more when it's done in really big letters in green and orange.
Lizards don't last long in my house, not with Roland around.
Jezzer's in charge of buzzerbugs, Roland gets the lizards.
How do we know the other lizard was doing this "untiringly" for 10 years?
He may have been really exhaused doing this, or he could have been doing it simply out of guilt.
Nailed Lizard: oh....don't worry about me, I'll just slowly die here of starvation.....my foot....it hurts so....but don't bother, it would put you out. Go. Go have fun with your other lizard friends. I won't be around to bother you much longer. Although a little water would be nice...those bugs are very dry.
Other Lizard: All Right Already! How can I live knowing you're standing here in this space between the wall, with a nail in your foot!
Especially knowing it was MY FAULT you got the nail in your foot anyway! You pushed me out of the way of that carpenter who was about to drive the nail through my head. Without you I wouldn't be alive.
The Lizard God Sean must have sent you an extreme Blessing, and me an equally extreme Curse, keeping us alive for 10 years. I thought lizards only lasted through one mating season.
In the time I'm not searching for food, I am going to tell all the other lizards about Karl and his Awesome Powers. Perhaps then Sean will have pity on you, and let your foot go necrotic, and fall off.
By the way Nailed Lizard, have you thought of pulling on your foot a little? It looks like the flesh all the way up to your Lizard Knee has rotted away with infections....here, let me try....we'll just give it a little yank and see if it comes off. (pulls on Nailed Lizard and he pops away from his dead foot)
BOTH LIZARDS: IT'S A MIRACLE...IT'S A MIRACLE.....LET US BOTH TELL ALL THE OTHER LIZARDS OF SEAN'S GREATNESS.
We must make the world see salvation can only be had through SEAN!!!!
how long do lizards live?
I wanna know how someone could not notice he was nailing a nail through a lizards foot.
I mean, I don't think that was something you'd go out of your way to do, those little f*ckers are really fast.
Not as fast as Roland though.
It someone DID put a nail through a lizards foot, it would be making such a commotion writing around the guy probably would have stomped it to put it out of its misery.
The guy was one sick dude if you ask me. He probably came around every few months to gloat over the Nailed Lizard.
Those 2 lizards will probably make him into some kind of demonic power.
Life span of a lizard?
Oh, I'd say 90% of them die within a few months.
Here we go...from some website on herpetology.
What is the life span of a lizard?
The life span of lizards varies depending on the species. But in general, the larger the species of the lizard, the longer it is likely to live. Some small lizards live on average for just one year, where some large lizards could be expected to live for decades.
I'm thinking those komodo dragons could live a long time, but little lizards don't last long.
You know what?
I don't mind snakes....but I really don't like lizards. Those little scrabbling feet.
I like the little guys. Komodo dragon drool seriously freaks me out though.
Have you heard the Good News yet Soz?
The Lizard God Sean is your Salvation!!!
Yippee!!
Does he look like this, though? If he does, I simply cannot worship him.
If you don't, your foot will be nailed to the floor.
That's OK.
As long as he doesn't drool on me.
If he threatens to drool on me, though, I'll do anything.
Oh, did I say that aloud? Drat.
It's always amusing to me when folks assign human traits, feelings and thoughts to animals. I guess it helps to keep their minds off the thought that if they died unattended in their sleep, their "loving" pets would begin to devour their corpses within days.
While I'm sure that lizards are capable of a number of instinctive responses to their environment or other stimuli, I'm unaware of any scientific evidence confirming the existence of "lizard love" or whatever you want to call it.
Anthropomorphism
I love that word
So Sozobe....
I will take it that you will indeed be joining our way of life?
The komodo dragon in known as "The Enforcer" in our faith. There of course would be no need to call him for his sacred duty is all goes smoothly.
You DO believe in Sean, don't you?

Oh, did I say that aloud? Drat.
I once knew a woman, she needed me so badly, she started threatening me.
Willy, she told me - if you dont give me the loving that you make me want so badly, right now, I'm gonna make a komodo dragon drool on you!
I just looked her straight in her eyes, and I told her - baby - you had me at Willy.
