I will die penniless.
I expect no sympathy.

Gus, I'm not sorry. Now I can take you into my home to play with my two dogs.
You do like dogs, don't you?

So far, no one here has been screwed by the companies like Enron took away pension money so the bigwigs could retain all their homes and cars and football teams and party planners and hummers and, and, and, and.....
Yeah, but we had a company file bankruptcy here. They couldn't pay their bills and blamed NM for freezing the accounts till sales tax was paid. Right before Christmas, too. Know what the owner said? ~"This is terrible. We know what it means to be laid off right before Christmas, with no pay checks. No Christmas, no presents"
No presents, Hell. It means no mortgage payment, the car going back to the lot, and maybe no groceries. Two years later, his home was featured in the real estate section as an example of gracious living. You see, it was the corporation that filed, not the person.
A friend of mine took his Social Security at age 70. The last time I saw him he was preparing to build some houses for somebody. I don't know if he needs money that badly, or if he just wants to stay busy.
My mom is 72 and still sells real estate- just to keep busy and socialize.
I say, go as long as you are able to. My grandfather did odd jobs well into his 80s.
Diane, I have several co-workers who used to work at Enron. They are a bitter group.
They lost a bundle, for sure, mac.

Yes, that's a possibility down the road when I'm older, but right now, I have to think carefully of my wife's and my future and make sure that we're going to be alright financially.
Between working part time and my hobbies, I don't think I'll be volunteering any time in the near future.
If my bonus remains good for the next 5 years - I will retire at 40, but a beach hut and a lot of cabana boys....
Could get expensive, Prince.
Ahh well, 41 then..
Seriously, it is still 26 yrs away, not sure if I want to even start thinking abt it.
I do know the earlier you prepare, the happier you will be.
Congratulations ten days in advance.
Thanks! It's getting close....and I'm tasting it!
