Fish lips? Are you talking about the women who look like their lips have been shot up with silicone? I notice it a lot on Fox News. Lori Dhue especially. Her lips are so large that sometimes I find myself inadvertently staring at them.

That's what you get for watching Fox news, Phoenix. Wink

They also make lipreading hell. Especially when liberally smeared with bright red lipstick. Blech.

I wonder if it is just a matter of who the cosmetician is on Fox, or whether it is done purposely. I have noticed it on a number of the Fox women news reporters. To tell the truth, I found it rather creepy. It was almost as if the station were attempting to sexualize their female reporters.

Now let me go completely out on a limb. A portion of Fox's audience are of extreme right wing persuasion, who are usually not enamoured of the whole idea of feminism. A crisp, efficient looking woman, might just rub some of their audience the wrong way. But if they looked like Barbie dolls........................

Do you think that I am out in left field with this? I have not noticed the fish lips as much on other news stations.

<Aside to Sozobe- I watch Fox for balance. I also watch NBC & CNN! Smile >

Left field? Hell, you just hit a homer. PBS is about the only news show remaining which doesn't have starlets talking. Last night, on CNN election coverage, Judy Whatshername who is normally an average looking middle aged woman had enough makeup on to lubricate a tractor axle. Her competence is inadequate. News as corporate income generator - which ain't news.

Phoenix, dear, Rarely are you ever out in
left field. You DO tend to notice those who are,
this a rare and exceptionally magnificent trait!
The Barbie doll comment was just exquisite.
ALMOST, as if?
Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
VERY much so indeed!! Aren't the token women
always depersonalized via the cheapening of
them with the sexuality thing, she being depicted
with her biggest ASSet, (her sex appeal) a most
common, low down dirty shame of a way of assuring
that she doesn't ever appear to be too quick, too
intelligent, or have big SHARP TEETH! Otherwise,
there is the outside chance that a female could
appear to be equally as real as a man/ equally
as valid as a man / equally as knowledgeable as
a man/ hell, equal TO any man.
**As for the "feminism" thing - I do honestly
believe it died almost the moment it was born.
God knows that the backlash to the whole concept
of feminism began a few seconds before feminism
got off the ground. Were there moles, informants,
do you think ... filling in the pentagon et al, on
what these dangerous women were really doing/
thinking/planning etc etc(now this IS left field-ish) Laughing
**WHY are WE dangerous? If we women only
knew that - as a cohesive unit, our numbers
are so many, we are the ants in "A Bugs Life"!!
(Remember all those body bags from Vietnam!!!)
THE BIGGEST GROUP OF VOTERS ... Congress
should be lobbying US!!
**What have we GOTTEN from this feminism???
Aside from the "right" to do all the little housewife
work, AND the "right" to go out and bust our butts
working in any( take your pick)professional field
where we get paid less & promoted lesser still.
I was the pharmacy manager here on Amelia Island
when our new WalMart Store opened in 1984 or 85.
Each & every 6 months or so - the general corp.
up there in Bentonville, Arkansas ((which, by the
way was the LAST state in the USA to make beating
your wife a crime)) WalMart Stores, Inc sent
out these statements, about 2 or 3 pages each
time, listing all persons who had been promoted
to a higher position, with congratulations etc etc
etc. There was NEVER, and I do mean never ..one
single female name on those pages. How I WISH
I had kept those sheets of paper, you will never
know how sorry I am, for what those congratulatory
send offs proved beyond a shadow of a doubt!!!
** After working for WM for over 10 years, on a
day when we were way short handed and our district
mgr sent out a new hire pharmacist, not much help,
but, a warm body-someone to answer the phone,
count some pills.....During the course of that day, I
discovered that this newly hired man, & he WAS
clueless .. while I did reams of paper work each
month, billed all the 3rd party insurance claims, had
to do the hire and fire, teach & re teach cause they
paid clerks so little, we couldn't seem to keep them.
I found out that day that this new hire know nothing;
was getting paid more money per hour than I was.
What an eye opener! An epiphany! I had graduated
2nd in my class, magna cum laude from Pitt in 1982.
And here was this man ...

Geez. What a bunch of bigots! Did any of you realize that Laurie Dhue was an Academic all-American swimmer at UNC-Chapel Hill? Both an athlete and great with academics. That's what it takes to be an academic all-american.

I suggets some of you re-think your positions, and put your jealousies and envies aside.
