A contest between nations or states( america and Iraq), carried on by force, ( americas troops bombing their country) whether for defence( bombing of our nation), for revenging insults and redressing wrongs, for the extension of commerce( oil ), for the acquisition of territory( for access to said oil) , for obtaining and establishing the superiority and dominion of one over the other( ownership of oil and strength to back that claim up), or for any other purpose; armed conflict of sovereign powers; declared and open hostilities.
