Perhaps a large "QUARANTINE" sign out front.
<hands clapped over mouth>
<garbled words emerge anyway>
This stuff just makes me SO MAD! I understand, strategy-wise, why you can't just say "no" if they call one or two days beforehand, really I do, but I can't wait for the day when you can have some control over the process as his MOTHER fer [expletives deleted].
<unclaps hands>
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
I'm afraid that controling the process as his mother means that I will always be weighing such things.
That is what a parent does, isn't it?
DrewDad, sometimes I wish I could do that but then I would be cheating.
You all have a great Thanksgiving too!
Boomer, can you breathe yet? Is this the point where you can say no if they call and ask for Mo tomorrow?
I hate this sh*t. YOU are his mother. YOU are his family, not those flakes.
I hope you get to spend time with what you are most thankful for.
Boomer--
May you rest and be thankful.
I'm on the side of privacy and sanity--your side.
Hold your dominion.
I'm breathing, but just once in a while.
I hate this stuff to.
But to be honest, in the over-all, long term scheme of things it will be fine if they do call and I will do my best to accomodate them simply because, as Bella put it so well, he is the thing I am most thankful for.
A2K is really the only place I get to let my more petty side run free on these thoughts and to have a nice group of friends understand what I mean.
Another thing I'm thankful for!
Noddy, you slipped in under the wire when I posted.
Thank you. My dominion is holding.
Perhaps it is human nature to be a bit mean, dlowan?
Anyway. I doing some voodoo cooking - making an extra sweet potato pecan pie just in case a last minute invitation turns up. That way I won't have to send Mo empty handed.
The voodoo part is that I might end up with a pie that I don't need, meaning, of course, that I will surely (fingers crossed) end up with pie.
boom,
I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear what happens. What a good mom you are! You're even cooking extra pie...
Here's hoping you get to spend Turkey Day with the lil guy. <crossing fingers>
I hope you, Mr B, and Mo are eating an extra pie today, Boomer.
Happy Thanksgiving, I hope it turns out the way you want it to.
So far so good!
I'm hoping that his bio-family is beginning to realize that this is where he belongs on holidays but I'm thinking that they are just being their usual careless selfs.
Cooking with crossed fingers is a mite tricky, but it's going OK...
Hopefully at the very least if they were careless up until now and then suddenly got a notion they'd realize it was WAY too last-minute...?
I know, I know.
Will keep things crossed.
Fingers crossed here, also.
My eggshell carpet is feeling decidely solid!
It is almost noon and they haven't called so I think we're safe to hand their pie out to the neighbors.
Don't ever let it be said that crossed fingers are an ineffective charm.
Crossed fingers across the country--powerful stuff.
Possibly Mama's New Boyfriend is a powerful stud as well.
Hold your dominion.
Hot diggity dog.
We made it through the day with only one phone call and that was from Auntie T (remember her?) and really she just wanted to .... ummmm..... ahh..... suggest? that perhaps I would have the opportunity to provide some free photo services to her for the holidays.
(That's exactly what bio-mom called about too! I'm so popular this time of year!)
Anyway.
What a great, fun day we had even though Mo snubbed everything but turkey and pumpkin pie.
Boomer--
Happy Thanksgiving.
As for turkey and pumpkin pie, that's protein, carbos and fat. Did Mo supervise the growing of that pumpkin?
As for sophisticated eating of vegetables. If Mo adds one vegetable a year, he'll be a Sophisticater Eater of Vegetables by the time he's old enough to vote.
Look, I know adults who can't name 15 vegetables unless you bend the rules to count potatoes five ways.
By the by, was Mo right about Auntie T.? Woman on the Make?
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, my dear Noddy.
It wasn't hot dog buns and yogurt so I'm okay with Mo's consumption. He goes through spells -- sometimes it's melon, sometimes it is green beans, sometimes it is hot dog buns and yogurt.
I dunno about Auntie T. At one point she was a good foot-hold into the bio-family and Mo enjoyed her company. Now....
I dunno.
I am guilty of giving people the benefit of the doubt until there is no longer any doubt about it.
