How much money should a person working for a year should get for a raise? $1, or $2??
It is according to what the person is doing, and what is the general trend in his/her area of work.
Say you are a data entry clerk, how much do you think he/she deserves?
What are other data entry clerks in your company getting?
A 2 1/2% raise is an ok raise. A 4% raise is a good raise.
How much would a 4% raise be?
Depends on how much you make.
$6, so how much do you think they deserve for a raise?
It's usually 4% of annual income. If they are making $6 an hour full time, that's $12,480 / year and a 4% increase would be an extra $499 a year, which works out to be $.24 an hour. But as you can see, it sounds MUCH better to say an extra $499 a year than a quarter raise.
I haven't had a raise since 2001 and in fact took a large pay cut just to stay employed. I'm sick about it - want to die really.

If you worked for me I'd give you a raise...but you'd have to sit on momma's lap first.
If you make $6 an hour and you've been working for 1 year, would you consider a $2 raise good?

$2 an hour? Hell yeah! That's raising your annual income from 12480 to 16640. That is a $4000 a year raise, which breaks down to be about a 32% raise.
A lot of industries in North America have been providing annual increases in the range of 1 - 4% for about a decade now. There are some exceptions when the base salary is extremely low.
Some companies give an annual bonus to sort of offset the small size of the annual increase. The problem is that the base salary for the following year stays lower
How much money do you think a 21 year old girl should be making by now?
Well, if she's hot and working as a call girl.... well into the 6-figures.
What if she works in an office?
