If you can afford it, eventually go to France. Seriously. The best way to learn a language is to be submersed in it. You have no choice but to learn and you will learn the dialect and slang as well.

No no I meant when you can and if you can. It's best to learn in that environment. Most people do not have the luxury of being able to travel abroad but if you are serious about learning, learn from someone who speaks it.
