Osso, I can meet you there at 10:00 on Saturday. I'm hard to miss (think very tall) and will wait near the right side lion as you're facing the building.

If someone recognises me .... I'd like to join ...

I think Mac11 and Eva mentioned interest in the museum too..

Well, if we all decide on 10 o'clock, we can add it to the Just the Facts page.

and if we pick a time for lunch, it would be a second place to meet for sure.

Perhaps J_B knows some nice place around there ...

<osso, since we stay relatively close together, we could meet on Friday and Saturyday morning (at your hotel?) - and go to the various places together?>

There are any number of places right across the street. Cosi is good for soup/sandwich/salad type fare and My Thai, two blocks north on Michigan Ave, is wonderful.

Ok, here's the skinny...

"Suggested" admission is $12.00 ($7.00 for seniors over 65). If you enter as my guest, you do not pay admission but you won't have a ticket to get back in later. Once you have a paid ticket (either in the morning, or when/if you go back in the afternoon) then you can re-enter during that day.

On both of my recent trips to Portland, a number of kinfolk and I went to the incredible Powell's Bookstore. New and used books in a maze of multiple floors of a building covering a city block.
We arrived as a group but my niece suggested that we go our separate ways and then meet up a few hours later at a designated spot. Browsing books, and perhaps visual art, is not something that works well as a group thing. If Saturday is the A2K at the Art Institute, the Just the Facts Thread might offer interested folks the choice of
--Meet other A2Kers's at the lion at 10 am, and then visit the galleries
--Meet at the lion again at 12 and join a group opting for lunch at various places

Um, I think twelve might be a wee bit early...

- easier to do if we eat at the museum..

Glad to hear about the photo without flash being ok.

Is there an updated list yet of who's coming and who's not? I will be arriving sometime on Friday and leaving some time on Monday. I'm driving and will be and will be just next door (MI) on the 1st until things start happening in Chicago.

Re: admission to the art museum, what day do you plan on going, again? Mondays and Tuesdays (I think, can check to confirm) are free.

Also, have we decided on the "core" event time? I saw that J_B's excellent summary on the other thread included that the event at Sublime's would be 12-12 -- I still think it makes sense to have a core even from say 1-5, and then people can come early or stay late.
