I've started an event roster on the 'facts' thread. I know that some have posted arrival/departure info here, but it will be much easier to find if it's reposted on that thread.

I'll update the roster as more info comes in, thanks.

It has been many long years since i spent any time in The Windy City by the Big Stinky Lake, but i fondly remember Geno's Uno and Due. Very good Za, at least in the late 60s . . . which i am sure could be the fodder for debate, if anyone were interested.

More like the Big Windy Lake next to the Stinky City, for the sake of argument. Wink

I once walked north on State Street, and was literally knocked down by the wind as i walked on the ice-covered bridge over the Chicago River.

If you have the time CI take a little road trip Northwest of Chicago to the town of Crystal Lake. On route 14 is a little dog shop called Tommy's

They have, by far, the best dogs in the tri-state area. 2 chicago style with fries for $3.50. You can't beat 'em.

Is ther public transportatin to that hot dog stand? BTW, i bought my very first new car in Chicago, a Chevrolet.

I'm trying to think where the Crystal Lake Metra station is and for the life of me I can't place it. I would imagine it is possible... but far from convenient.

No need to go trekking out to the suburbs when there are plenty of good hot dog joints in Chicago

Don't ever get two Chicagoans into a debate about pizza unless you're prepared for the bloodshed that will inevitably follow.

I'm planning to go either on the Highlights by Bus tour (and/or the Architecture River Cruise) on Friday and the Downtown Deco on Saturday.

I plan to book online in advance.

Anyone joining .... ?

Walter, the "Highlights by Bus" tour sounds good. What time are you going on this one? I'll try to book a ticket too!

I'm open to times ... and what time I'm going.

I think as well, the boat tour would be great - but actually I want to have a "bigger overview" and take the Art Deco tour on Saturday as a more special one.

I suppose, weÄll have some time until the booking should happen, so this were just my more concrete plans.

I'm glad you're making plans early, becaue that's what I like to do. Late can mean "sold out." Wink

I just signed up for the bus tour on Friday morning, have to be at the Chicago architecture shop by 9:15 to pick up my ticket. The fellow said there's a coffee shop and bakery next door...

He also said there were 64, or was it 54, tickets left, and that they count anyone 55 and over as a senior.. so my ticket was
$32.00.

I plan to overdose on art at the Museum on Saturday, and if there is time, see some other galleries, or walk Michigan Avenue a bit, and perhaps check out the interiors of Marshall Field's and Carson Pirie Scott's, so I didn't sign up for the architecture on Sat. And Sunday morning seems the best time for me to check out my childhood home area in Evanston and perhaps meet some old childhood friends - so that knocked out a Sunday morning bus tour.

Booked it as well - the girl was listening to a Mozart program on radio.

Art Institute of Chicago

This page has musuem hours listed. I know a bunch of us are interested in going through the museum, but we might not all get there at the same time.
I'm thinking of being there when it opens on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and am hoping to see some other a2kers, perhaps have lunch at the museum. But maybe some will show up in the afternoon, and I'm apt to be there then too.

I'm wondering if there is any way we can identify each other, short of pm'ing photos. When I met Paola at the Met Museum in New York, I had a big silk scarf - orange - tucked under my coat collar. Seems a little dramatic.. and I don't know where that scarf is anyway. I suppose I could wear my a2k sweat shirt, but it's still packed in some damn box. A flower in my hair? Now that would attract attention...

Osso, I can meet you there at 10:00 on Saturday. I'm hard to miss (think very tall) and will wait near the right side lion as you're facing the building.

I might get one of these bags.. not quite as fetching as some of my other totebags, but not too bad..
