I'm open for seafood although that's not my daily diet.

We filmed at the Stockyard Inn back when I was on a crew with my dad doing an industrial film I'd now deny, in the very late fifties. So I think of Chicago as steak. I suppose by now they have developed some salad somewhere, but that isn't clear yet.
I have primo seafood here... (long may it live)

Nothing is definite yet (whether we go is still somewhat dependent on sozlet health) but I'll probably be in Chicago this weekend -- schedule is busy but I still may be able to meet with J_B. Since Millennium Park Grille seems to be mostly out, are there any other requests for places we (or just me) should check out?
yeah! I'll pm you my phone numbers for when you know your schedule.

She might not freeze to death this weekend afterall. It's been friggin freezing this week but we're supposed to warm up a bit this weekend. Highs might actually get into the upper 20s. Compared to the single digits we've had all week it will feel like a heat wave.

I will be in Chicago again on the 1st of January. Actually just passing through. I have to pick someone up in Detroit and take them west. I'll honk when I go through Chicago.

That's twice you've just honked passing through, Gus. You're starting to sound like one of those Canadian geese that are always causing trouble. When you gonna do more than honk?

Hey! I did a fair amount of interacting on my last visit to Chicago.
How can you reduce me to the level of the common goose?

Can you give us a honkyphononic extravaganza from your point on the dial at the goose noise machine in May?
Get over all this flying over, I need to meet you.

Come on, guys. Give 'ol Gus a break.
Remember, he has to pick up some friends in Detroit and give them a ride.
It takes a long time to get one of these rigs through the big city.

Here's that old restaurant (etc) list I had started when looking around on google, Sozobe. I don't think I was even half way through the possibles, and that was just in the downtown section - what website I now can't remember. Might have been metromix.

Depending on the numbers, here's some possible restaurants for Saturday afternoon (some for evening) with outside seating as well as inside.
I suspect Sublime and other Chicagoans can give us more, with preferred Beer Gardens..
I stopped because I thought the last one I found was neat and added it to favorites and lost track of where I was in the Downtown restaurants with Outside Seating review. Will have to start again around restaurant #65..
but here's some so far.
Haven't finished downtown Loop much less other areas, and was looking mostly for afternoon possibilities. Probably skipped some...
What has occurred to me is we need a fair span of time as people will be late... and we might need to figure some places for later too, in case people get derailed in the afternoon..

The local PBS station (WTTW) produces a weekly show where 3 different Chicagoans submit their favorite restaurant, all three people visit all 3 restaurants and then gather back at the studio to tape their reviews. Some of the places are small neighborhood spots, some are fancy - special event type places. All sorts of ideas from the locals.
Here's a link to all the restaurants reviewed to date. Within the site you can click on the "Reviews by Cuisine" option to get a listing for a particular type of food.
The show gets a lot of viewers and the restaurants are packed for about 6 months after being aired. If you take a look at some of them now then the crowds will have died down by May.
