I gather you didn't pick the date, jespah. May 6th appears to be a popular birthday for Atookian's fathers.

Oh sure. Swimpy is willing to drive all the way to Chicago yet she isn't willing to take a casual stroll down the hill to my place.

Is that your house? The one with the vines growing all over it? Were's the frickin' door?

As Tico pointed out, some of us have parents with birthdays that weekend. My mother's birthday is May 7. Since I live in Chicago, I should be able to get away and make it to the A2K party. Legendary people such as Osso, Walter, and C.I. will be there!

And don't forget dagmaraka, wandeljw.

You won't find a bigger A2K legend than her.

(unless dlowan shows)

gus,

I am ashamed I didn't include dagmaraka. However, you seem to be very possessive about her and I did not want to stir up any jealousy.

I want Gus and Gertrude to show up. We would all promise to keep his (their) anonymity anonymous. Wouldn't we? Besides, who could we tell?

Didn't Gertrude pass away recently under some bizarre circumstances?
In any case, I will happily be Gus's (gus'es?) date. i'll wear my best overalls and get a brand new pitchfork from home depot.

Another painting at the Chicago Art Institute (from the estate of Gertrude Ratzenhofer?):

I think that's how they look, because of the mess Bush got us into in Iraq.

Gertrude Ratzenhofer?! Oh! I didn't realize they were married!

Poor Gus, a widower. And I didn't even send flowers to the funeral. I am so ashamed.

I am afraid to find out what Gus would like "in lieu of flowers".

In "lieu in flowers" wandel? Just consider insect repellant.

Nothing is definite yet (whether we go is still somewhat dependent on sozlet health) but I'll probably be in Chicago this weekend -- schedule is busy but I still may be able to meet with J_B. Since Millennium Park Grille seems to be mostly out, are there any other requests for places we (or just me) should check out?

i'm a little disappointed if MPG is out of the running, but i hope the venue that's ultimately chosen will have some seafood, since my wife's diet consists almost entirely of seafood & vegetables.

I'm all interested in Sublime's place, seems like it would work for our level of imperfect timing possibities. Seems relaxed if he/they'll have us.

I'll still go to the Grill on my own one day, just for the restaurant at the park experience. (Anyone wanna go with?)

Way back on something like page 15 I listed a bunch of places I'd checked out before I logged myself out of some site by mistake - I got through dozens of pages but had lots to go when I did that.

And that Brathaus- or something like that - talked about by J_B sounded fine (possibly noisy) although probably not finer.. re constraints.)

I'll see if I can find that old starter list..

Anyway, have fun on your trip. You know you will just trip over just the right place, nothing we've thought of.
