Me too, FreeDuck, I wish I could have made it to Chicago, but these
great pictures are at least a small consolation for not being there.
Especially Bill's pictures showed how much fun they all had together,
and how much at ease they were with each other.

If the next meeting is in San Diego, I'll definitely be there Wink

I spent my first night in Chicago on the 34th floor with only three rooms.
The views were grand!

There ought to be about 60,000 replies to that.

But I'll desist from offering an explanation of what is wrong with me as it would take too long and I have at least picked up that you are all far too sensitive to be be exposed to it.

Beyond the faces of the people, the camaraderie of the gatherings, and the beauty of the city, the pictures have also shown how glorious the weather was here last weekend. Chicago did it's best to add to the fun.

If anyone is interested, Blues Fest is the first weekend in June and at least some of us will be at Fitzgerald's on June 30th for a Sonny Landreth performance. Taking a phrase from Eva, y'all are welcome to join us anytime!

Sorry, I'm not sure what the "dino wing" at the Field is, but the treasures from Egypt is about to arrive at the Field for those of you so inclined.

I finally enjoyed the Chicago hotdog..

C.I.,

Your photo of "Downtown Dogs" and "Pippins Tavern" also shows the building where I work. (far right edge of the photo)

wandel, The big disappointment for me about the Chicago hotdog was simply that they didn't serve it with french fries like in the old days, but with potato chips. Just wasn't the same as I remembered. ;(

C.I.,

Most hot dog places in Chicago still serve it with fries.

The place you went to is good but idiosyncratic.

Wow, an incredible stack of photos. Chicago looks fantastic!

It's lovely to put faces to names, and nice to know that people from all over the place can just seemingly fit into one crowd and have a great time.

One day, I will make that flight, using up oodles of fuel in the process.
I can then meet all you lovely people, and annoy the hell out of Spendi at the same time. Two birds with one stone.

You mislabeled that one photo above, that is not the Sears Tower, that is the Hancock building, which you strangely got correct in the next photo description.

Just the simple fact of annoying the hell of of spendi would be worth the trip. LOL

Steve, I am "that" old! Probably the oldest at the meet.

The Sears Tower can be seen from the southern view in the picture labeled 'The Hancock Observatory'.

Of the two observatory decks I actually prefer the Hancock Observatory. No lines, much less expensive and wicked fast elevators.

Heh, C.I.!

Basically, the Field Museum used to have a whole section devote to dinos -- not just Sue, who is in the main hall. That closed while they did a big fancy renovation, and I was wondering if it had re-opened yet. It seems like it has:

Thanks for the report on the dinner at O'Bill's restaurant last night! I had been wondering if you guys managed to pull off the big surprise. Wish I could have been there to see the look on his face!

Oh! We're posting art & architecture shots, too? I have some, but thought people would only be interested in the photos of A2Kers. Lemmee see here.....

The architectural shots are great and I'm sure of interest to those unfamiliar with the windy city, but for those of us who have been there and have already seen it, seeing the faces of A2Kers is far more interesting.
