unknown cramps

Hi, I was about to enjoy my sleeping after a rough night. Ok, everything

seemed fine when all of a sudden my sister rushed in. It was my brother,

and he wasn't feeling alright. I asked what's wrong ?! I know that I left him

just fine! He said some unknown pain; could be the stomach or something

else. But he did all the tests few weeks ago; bladder ok, urine infection

gone and it's clear now, no ulcer, bp ok, hmm everything fine I guess.

So, I've been to save the day; got him quickly in the car and to the health

center where the doctor was out. He came after a while, and exmined bro

abdomen. Asked a couple of questions, got the answers. He said ( the

doctor ) you probably ate something not necessary now , could be days

back, and that caused stomach disorder. I'll give an injection , some

medication and you shall be alright. Then he looked at my brother's mobile

and said: " is this nokia 6610 ?". Heh, this is funny. He ( brother ) said in

pain: " yes ". Doctor: " does this come with camera also ? " . Brother : "

yes ". Doctor : " and without ?". Brother : " yes ". Doctor : " I want to buy

one like yours". Then, he went away.

After we were done, we came back. My cousin and I were laughing in our

way back home.

But, I'm not expert, and not that interested in mobile phones.

Good thing, my brother feeld ok so far.

I want to ask, can we feel stomachache because of something we ate

along time?!

Are you asking if a person can get a stomach ache from food they ate days ago, I'd say no. Everything passes through in about 24 - 48 hours, so I understand. I am no expert, of course.

Sounds like the doctor was more interested in your brother's cel phone than in his health! Have you considered a second opinion? Yes, he feels fine now, and I hope he continues to do so, but if the examination was this cursory, maybe something was missed.

Abdominal pain has all sorts of causes. Here are a few.
* menstruation and miscarriage (obviously, not with your brother, I'm just being thorough here Smile)
* passing a kidney stone
* virus such as influenza (but there are generally other symptoms)
* Crohn's disease
* appendicitis (fatal if not treated)
* peritonitis (also fatal if not treated)
* internal injuries

Your brother might be fine, and I hope he is, but if you're unsure, it might be a good idea to see a second doctor.

So, anything we eat should vanish in say 2 days. I know that some people

are lousy in their work, or maybe living in a pinky world.

Well, he doesn't complain from anything you mentioned Jespah, except

that he has had flu a couple of days. Maybe he is still recovering.

Then it might be flu, still hanging on. Even mild flu can be really nasty.

I have no idea what this sentence you just said means: "I know that some people are lousy in their work, or maybe living in a pinky world."

Can you explain when you get a chance? Thanks. Smile

Remind me to explain later ( I don't mean exact people ).

Last night was a horrible nightmare for us; I was about to loose my

brother. From 12 am until now 10:12 am as I'm writing this was the

duration of this scary thing. Still, we are expecting any emergency , but he

is fine now.

( I guess Sad ).

I'll write to you later, now it's 10:15 am time to sleep finally.

Oh yes, it can take days for symptoms to show. I had food poisioning and it took 72 hours before I got sick.

If his stomach is still acting up that badly for days, I think he needs an ultrasound or something to look into his abdomen. The flu shouldn't cause pain like that. I would demand an ultrasound to see if there is an obstruction.

It was nearly 12 last night, when my sister again came in; of course I was

sleeping at that time. I don't like to stay up. She me told to come and see

my brother again. He was very sick. I found him vomiting and in a bad

condition. My cousin (another one joined us later) was there, and he was

very concerned. I was thinking what should I do, or how can we handle

this. But, brother got worse all of a sudden, and couldn't breathe, his limbs

were like stiffening (if you saw him you would think it some kind of

epilepsy). When this happened we were two there (cousin and I), it was

time to take decision fast. So, we spontaneously took him down the floor,

and things got even worse that my cousin was screaming. I thought it was

the end cuz we were loosing him. Ok, little water helped on the face. We

made him sit, probably this helped also. I rushed him like crazy to the

health center. I thought it was the end. We arrived there to the Emergency

where the doctor wasn't in (these things happened always at bad times).

We put him on bed in the sitting position. My brother was like gapping for

air, and asking for help. The doctor came in, and asked the same old

questions. I told him all what he wanted; gave him a quick report (we

already brought him before as I mentioned). It was some kind of anuresis,

but this was weird, everything should be fine and as before! He (brother)

uses a half small bottle (we arrange this for him) for urination connected

with a urine bag instead of condoms. Of course he uses condoms but not

often (only for going out, or special reasons) because condoms troubles

him causing infection. Not always, but bro from the paranoid type of

people.Ok, the doctor was following the pain with his hand on his bladder

(it was the bladder, after the stomach false alarm). Brother stopped the

doc on the lower part of it, and the doctor kept like massaging that area.

Urine started to flow as the doc did that. Brother was breathing slowly. I

asked the doctor to take him to the hospital. He said you would do, and I

said yes.

On the way to the hospital (take 30 minutes usually), I was going like

crazy (driving the car of course).I doesn't want to tell what happened

during on the way. I was like James Bond, but I made it in 15 minutes

instead!

Ok, ER, doctor came, usual questions, got the answers. At the time my

brother was feeling good (returned to normal)

Here I'd have to stop writing, something came up Smile

I'll break my story to give the update..

It seems that the old sonography which done to him here didn't show

anything. My thought is that the staff here don't know what to do! I've

been living this nightmare since three days now. All the doctors said that

the tests were fine (kidneys, bladder). I went to the ER four times and the

same old results. Nothing wrong with him, we can't admit him because we

find nothing wrong. Then, he feels ok, I take him home, the killing pain

comes, get him to the hospital again, and so on.

I was in this maze, and then decided to get him to a private hospital

outside. Actually, I wanted to make the same ultrasound as Bella

suggested. We got there, and the doctor asked about his case

(quadriplegia), bladder work etc. Then, he said: " if you have no

sensation, and the muscles are zero from the chest down, how come do

you feel the burning in your bladder?!" A good one, I told him that this

because of the sensation improvement by the time. I also told him that he

knows when to pass urine or stool. The doctor asked for ultrasound.

The radiologist (female Cool ) told my brother to drink some water and not pass.

He was on catheter, and she pressed on the tube using scissors to stop the

flow of urine. When scanning I knew that she noticed something weird, and

took three images for it. But, I didn't ask her, preferred to ask the

urologist.

The doctor said everything ok. He then said that it's neurogenesis bladder.

A nerve that causes all the trouble. At last, we found the criminal inside

my brother's bladder. So, He wrote some medication and asked for

urodynamic study in other hospital. Thank God. I'll leave you with

ultrasound report.

Description:

Both kidneys are of normal size and shape.

Echogenecity and corticomedullary structures of both kidneys are normal.

Both renal sinus and pelvicalyceal systems show normal echogenecity.

No hydronephrosis, mass lesion or stone is detected.

Ureters are not dilated.

Urinary bladder is thick in wall and irregular due to trabiculation.

(Neurogenesis bladder).

Now, what is the treatment for this case ? Does anyone know something

similar?

I'll complete the story above later.

I'm not a doctor.

I think "neurogenesis" probably means "nerve growing back". Could it be possible that one of the nerves to the bladder is regenerating?

I don't know whether abdominal nerves can carry sensations of phantom pain the way that nerves in the arms and the legs can.

Thanks everybody. Thanks Noddy. I'll take him to another hospital for

admission, and further treatment. This probably will take few days for

procedures. I hate bureaucracy. He should make a urodynamic study as

said. Also, he is in the following medication, if anybody knows about them:

OFLOXACIN , one pill every 12 hours.

OXYBUTYNIN, three pills a day.

Remind me to complete the story later, if you are interested.

See you Cool

Thanks, so what do you think of these pills ? Can we consider them for

treatment ? because they relieve the pain and anti-infective. Anyway, still

the urodynamic study at the hospital. He is fine now.

I myself feel a little relieved. Maybe there is another battle in the horizon,

but I'm ready for everything coming.

As I see it (as a woman across the ocean with no medical degree) your brother's doctors are treating his bladder problems. Once the infection is cleared up, the problem may be cleared up as well.
