American marines and Iraqis pull down Saddam statue in center of Baghdad, live on world wide TV
Tanks drive warily down the street,
with the guns pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
machine guns ready to go
Are you ready, Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
How do you think I'm going to get along,
without you, when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had,
and kicked me out on my own
Are you happy, are you satisfied
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Chorus
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
you can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down
But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
repeating the sound of the beat
Very fast reaction, O&K. You are really on the ball.
The move with the flags was a bit touchy -- and those guys climbing up the boom were really playing with fire (snipers and all that) but an interesting scene, nonetheless.
The King is dead. Long live the King!
Frank, let us all hope and prey that this war is about finished. Ok, I realise there may yet be pockets of Saddam's supporters running a do or die campaign and there are loads of civli things that need to be put right, BUT, may the Americans, Brits, Iraqis' and others have some well deserved peace and quiet.
I agree with you about the flags Frank, but the symbolism of the statue and it's location is of great value.
Now what have both anti and pro war factions got to say about events
Quite a tv moment indeed, worldwide and all that. I just about choked on my tounge when that soldier put the stars and bars up.
The "war" is winding down, but the US occupation is just beginning, and the way it is handled is going to effect western relations with the Arab world for years to come.
Speaking of, it appears that Abuzz (that other site) is really down and out this morning. Wonder if it will come back up?
I've got a very bad feeling about Abuzz. I have been a fan of that site for over two years now and I truly hope someone comes along and buys it and puts some life back into it.
But right now, it has about as much life in it as Saddam Hussein's regime does.
It will be a huge loss for the Internet if Abuzz goes down for good.
