One thing is for sure about the bible; the authors were very creative/imaginative. I especially like the story about that woman who turned into a pile of salt.

I think it was a pillar.

But I don't want to start a pillar fight.

Turned her into a pillar of salt just for looking back at the destruction that was being rained upon her home. Quite a temper that Jehovah god had.

That left poor Lot stuck in the wilderness with only his two daughters and no wife and no sons to carry on his line.

So the daughters come to the rescue and get the old man drunk and crawl into the sack with him, both get pregnant and bear sons.

What wonderful uplifting moral teachings we get from the bible.

Mesquite, you're just being deliberately negative with your interpretation. The real message is probably...umm...if your wife can't do as she's told, then you are better off with some salt. See how He provideth?

I haven't read all the posts, but just wondering about the title. Pointless for whom? I am thinking of people who kill for religions or their god(s), are their lives more meaningful?

I looked up "genea" what it could mean.

Yeah,

but you've got to admit if you went to a major film studio with a script that had
-the wife struck down by God
--the daughters doing the horizontal boogalo with their drunk daddy
----and BOTH getting knocked up!!
(Way to go, geezerhead!!)

the studio execs would be troubled by the lack of a part for Justin Timberlake.

It seems that God's message to humanity has been buggered up by incompetent translators. You will need a suitably inspired priest to properly interpret it for you.

And everyone who already knows the REAL message, can easily see that the translation has been buggered up.

So my trusty KJV Bible is not the innerant word of God it claims to be? Makes me wonder how one comes to know the REAL message.

I agree that the atheist's life is essentially pointless, but I think that is so for everyone's life. Life is its own point. Each moment is its own fulfillment, not a mere means to some extraneous end.

Do you support living for the moment at the cost of the future?
