Because I knew the effect your asking would have. And, indeed it did. Not only did Setanta use God's name in the manner that you despise ....look at BBB's post. Now Edgar's. Who's next?

I will admit that for the first couple of times I did use the emoticons, it was because you didn't like them and I could picture you getting angry. I was angry myself at that time, but that is no excuse for me doing something to purposely anger you. For that, I am sorry.

But, I soon found myself losing all my anger toward you and others and they just help me keep that anger away. That might seem silly to you but it helps me to keep from getting upset at some of the things you and others say.

I have asked you not to use MOAN and god's name in vain and have said I'd stop using the emoticons and I would gladly do that. I guess it's just a matter of I can't let your calling me MOAN bother me anymore. But, using god's name in vain is something different. But, I will say this, I will no longer point it out everytime you or someone else does it. I will merely go on record saying I think it is highly offensive.

I don't have a halo. Could never be worthy of one. I do have a question though? What kind of church do you go to that would okay (if they do) someone using god's name in vain? I am not trying to be smart-mouthed or disrespectful here, BBB, but isn't this kind of one of the things people say about Christians? We go to church on Sunday and do all kinds of bad things during the week? I am guilty of much during the week myself, so please do not take that to mean I am not.

So, Mr. Setanta, no emoticons in this post. But, I will continue to use them because I like to use them. They make me smile.

The thing Momma Angel hates the most is being ignored. She posts such offensive, holier than thou statements to get attention. Maybe the best punishment is to ignore her. She will hate that.

Actually, BBB, being ignored is not something I hate at all. Many on these threads ignore me, doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, it probably helps because I am not tempted to fight with them.

Speaking as an atheist who disagrees with Momma Angel on quite a lot, I can't think of any "holier than you" statement that she ever addressed to me. I suspect this is a classical case of "what goes around, comes around".

I have seen several posts from others that appear to be of little substance other than to have their name on the beginning of a thread. I do not see Momma Angel as one of them. IMHO, she has not portrayed herself to be anything more than she is and directs her comment to others.....not down at them. Finding reason to make someone hate anything is not a very attractive trait.
