My son had a dorsal slit procedure a year and a half ago. And even though it has healed up it isn't what the doctor said it would look like. I either misunderstood the doctor or he changed how he did the procedure. Apparently there is two ways to do the surgery. Now my son even though he is only six asks if he will ever look normal. Has anyone heard of a dorsal slit being repaired to have an intact foreskin? If so when should my son have this surgery. Now when he is little or later when he finished growing? Can anyone help?
I know nothing about surgery or dorsal slits. As a mother of sons and stepsons--total eight--I know a fair bit about the way boys worry about penises.
Do you know where he's come up with his idea of "normal"?
Goodness knows that there must be a number of websites devoted to the permutations of "normal", but I'm not about to go there looking for links.
Tell him that "normal" covers a very wide range of sizes and shapes.
Ask him does he have trouble urinating? If not, he's normal. Sex is a little harder to deal with--much harder to deal with--can your husband handle those permutations?
