Martini, anyone?

Okay, so what the dealio with martinis? I ordered one the other night, and I realized that there are a whole bunch of sub-orders that you have to go through...olive or onion, how dry, what kind of vodka (I ordered a vodka martini instead of gin)...so how do you like yours?

And another thing...the more vermouth, the drier it is, right?

Yes, vermouth makes is dry. "Extra dirty" means extra olives/olive juice.

If I get a martini at a bar, I just ask for rasberry vodka, chilled and straight up. Just a glass of vodka.

I have my own martini I make. Chocolate rasberry.

About 60/40 rasberry vodka and chocolate liquor(not the creamy kind, the clear), with a splash of chambord for color. Good stuff.

I'll probably have to make one or two. I'm sitting in waiting until I go pick these broads up at the airport. Scheduled for midnight originally, but left 1/2 late, still one stop.

Well, I only have one more week in NYC...after that I'll have to start looking for work again. I'm still just enjoying the freedom.

Kickycan = lobster and martini

Ratzenhofer = peanut butter sandwich and beer

No wonder Kicky gets all the women. He is suave and sophisticated.

Meanwhile, I just sit here and wait for the next unsuspecting sheep to wander along.

Life is hell.

You are correct, CJ.

I have a feeling you asked that question with one eyebrow raised.

Yep, Slappy, I've decided to give up this NYC life for something else...I don't really know what that something else is yet, but I'm moving to Rochester, and I'm going to probably be moving to either Buffalo to go to school for a new career in lab technology, or to someplace warm. That's as far as I've got in my plans so far, but I'm definitely moving out of Manhattan next weekend. It's going to blow not living in Manhattan, but I am just not into all the **** you have to compromise on in order to live here anymore.

I could tell you to open your damn eyes and read the post where I put the recipe, CJ, but I'll do it again. Just because I'm a super nice guy like that.

Rasberry vodka.
Chocolate liquor. Such as Creme de Cacao, the CLEAR not creamy. (although I suppose you could use either).
Chambord.

I do it chilled in a mixer. Mix the vodka and chocolate liquor about 50/50...I put a little more vodka to make it stronger. Then a splash or a bit more of chambord for color/added sweetness.

Slappy, you are such an f'ing girl.
<shaking head>
Chocolate martinis.

Unf'ingbelievable.

A martini:

8 parts Bombay Sapphire gin
1 part dry vermouth
maybe ice
1 green olive, rinsed before it goes in the glass
stir gently

I'll have to agree, Beth. I used to think Slappy was one of the tough guys.

Until he disclosed this bombshell. Chocolate friggin' martinis!

He deserves to have a giant beer can dropped on his head.
